It's not actually "on" the hub.

it's on the axle. well the 08' were the new 09's have a hanger again. Anyhow i have the 08' and thing is a tank!! Super tough, and with the right shifters it's crisp!!

right now they are ripe for the pickens...many mail order places have them from 24.00 to 40.00...anyhow the sshifting is tight and exact and a plus is running the solid axle the rear is stiffend up no more bent hangers. I have one on my old gen Bullit...big imporvement.
a lot of people say they are hard to adjust...read the instructions it's not rocket surgery

x9 and x0 is no different except x0 is carbon, the difference is in the shifter

No, the difference is sealed bearings on all the pivots, Ti main spring and the Carbon/alloy cage.

Get the Shadow Saint.

Shimano doesn't do "09" or any year like that, they release refreshes as and when they are ready, you're talking about the M810/M815 rear mech, not the "09" one.

i just went from sram x-9 to well used 08 saint. i really cant believe how solid it shifts considering how beat it is. much better than my sram der's that always break. the only downside i have found is the shifter... for one its backwards which takes some getting used to. also i dont like the first finger shift, i would rather use my thumb so that my finger doesnt have to come off the brake.
all in all worth it
Does anyone know what book price is on the saint der??

$185 for the Rear Derrailuer MSRP
Although you can pick it up for like half that on CRC

I've been using the new Saint shadow rear deraileur for about 4 months and it is bullet proof... I am about to replace my deraileur hangar for the second time but the Saint der. is still working perfectly !
