i know it's useless cuz it has same performance as a 2,7 or 2,5" tyre but its freakin' awesome to have 3,0s. at least the rear fits a 3,0" tyre on my stinky

Friend of mine has 2.5" wide tires and there's maybe enough room for 2.6". I've got 2.35's so I have no problem fitting mine.

You can get a 3.8" fat bike tyre in a super monster with plenty space to spare, its crap for going fast though so I stick with the 3" Razorbacks for as long as I can still get them.
