If I was you I wouldn't put any money into that bike as it's not an actual BMX race bike. Start saving up for a real race bike and you'll enjoy racing a lot more. I'd suggest for a bike that's on the cheaper side to get either an Intense or a Redline Proline. They're both about $500-$600 I believe. How tall are you and how old are you if you don't mind me asking? I can tell you what size of bike you need then.

smaller gearing you go puts more stress on the chain and small gearing started for clearence reasons not weight.
