so with the way that requires no cutting or welding (steer tube from fork over stock steerer) how does it hold there? do you use a quill stem and put it all the way down to through the bike steerer so it wedges in the ski bike steerer??? if so why not just use stem right on there without the bike steer tube

because its hard to find a bike stem thats small enough to fit around the GT steerer tube
What i did is this. I took the steering wheel off. and i found a piece of pipe that is just a bit Bigger then the steering tubes of the handlebar and stem steerer tube and gt steerer tube, both steering tubes are same diamter, so i stuck the steering tube into the piece of pipe i found bolted it then put it on the gt steering tube.
yo i would chop the top tube off a bmx or and bike like a couple inches down from the head tube then chop off the head tube on the gt the weld the bike on . and a pair of bmx bars and stem like this : https://www.pinkbike.com/photo/1114542/
