Question from new rider (age 27, M, riding Al. Kona Process 153)
New to North Shore this yr, new to mtb this yr
On Fromme I noticed a lot of the black diamonds like 7th secret etc. seem pretty janky and kinda crashy for novice

Can you guys give me a progression of some more intermediate or 'easy black' north shore trails where I can work on basics?

If you are new to riding I suggest starting with the following on Fromme:
Bobsled
Upper and Lower Griffen
Floppy Bunny
Leppard
Kirkford
Crinkum Crankum
Expresso

Good list. I'd add Lower Expresso and Pennzoil as well. You can park on Braemer road and get practice climbing singletrack on For the Kids > Dempsey ascent and do laps of those two trails back to back pretty quickly. Lower Expresso is singletrack flow with some rocky bits and Pennzoil is technical but pretty flat and nothing with consequences. Check Trailforks...

Hey everyone, do you guys have a recommendation for a bike shop that has good rentals? Going to be visiting Vancouver in a couple weeks!

Endless biking is a rentals /guiding /lessons company and fairly close to the trails. If you're visiting over the holidays maybe find out what days they're closed though. Hopefully there isn't snow on the trails in a couple weeks!

Hopefully there is snow on the trails. Snow riding is the best.

I agree with Nonsmoker, steeper and deeper make a sick ride, bring it on.
