The shore is definitely manageable on an aggressive 170mm hardtail. Just depends on the experience you're looking for.

If you're planning on riding with your nephew who's on a hardtail, I would just ride whatever makes you the same speed as him (i.e., hardtail if you're similar skill/speed, or dually if he's a ripper and you need it to keep up).

I've ridden everything on the shore on a Chromag Rootdown with a 160mm fork. I'd go with the Meta.

How are the trail conditions? I have some time off and may go down to Vancouver

Just rode today at lunchtime - dirt is pretty awesome right now. Some cooler weather coming and rain, but overall the trails are running well.

Forecast looks colder next week and possibly some snow, but yeah as of right now things are running primo.. bit damp up higher but not really any snow until 850-900m elevation.

I see news headlines for a polar vortex bringing minus 10 temps but I don’t see it reflected in any forecasts yet.

Rode Fromme yesterday afternoon and it was snowing lightly at parking lot, good 5-10cm on the road by Expresso with some on the trail. Probably all melted today as it's 6C downtown right now. Looks like next Wedesnday is when things get cold (highs of 1, 0, 2, 2 through following Sunday).

Are there any medium or large Banshee Phantom v3 owners on the Shore who would be so kind as to let me pedal around a parking lot to get a sense on sizing?

As of 2 days ago the snow line at Cypress sounds like it starts around the 700m elevation mark Smile .
Unless they got a bunch of snow in the last couple days, or if they do get snow in the days going forward, you should be good too shred. I hope you're able to get a lot of sick riding in, cheers! Big Grin \m/
