I just bought a new frame and the shock is stiff as ****. I haven't mounted it to any parts yet and it's impossible to get the shock to move the. It has a 500lb spring. Is it broken?

Fox DHX 3.0 Spring

you cant tell untill its buily up. but if its blown it will have very fast rebound and the adjustmments wont do anything.

its impossible...unless you are the hulk....to push a shock while its not on a bike. you need the leverage of the frame to push the shock with the amount of force it needs to compress

thanks for the replies. thought I would be able to press it down with shear force without it being mounted...VIVA LA PINKBIKE!!!

I've played around with the adjustments and it pretty much stays the same. I can make it nudge, but that's about it. Would a 500lb spring be good for a rider that's 185lb?

depends on the bike. different linkage designs will require different spring rates and what not

yeah, like most have said, it's probably due to it not being mounted with other parts yet.

Look at the last post on page 1. Just reassuring the guy that had a similar concern.
