HAHA! Yeh the rebound adjuster on the bottom of 888 RC2X are about 17.99 (last time I checked). Thats JUST for the little red piece of plastic. Rediculous.

Go w/ the Quake, I've had a bunch of time with both bikes, and the Quake is a much better choice.

Better Pedaling
Better Suspension design
No need for a floating disc (ie Better Braking)
Better Bearings
Ability to run any fork
Ability to run a 135 or 150 Maxle

could you fit 888s to a quake?

If you had the chance to ride both bikes on the same steep rooty trail with jumps and drops you would be way faster on the Marin. The quake is higher end materials way way better bearings and 6000 series alloy. Jon White is an award winning engineer. Kona is a well marketed familar brand but a Stinky is at best an entry level machine and not to be compared with world class cutting edge technology like the Quad xlt. Yes I am biased I ride and sell Marins but have worked on plenty of Konas and they eat bearings and pivots and shock bushings every season. My quake is going on three years still tight all original suspension hardware.

how can you tell from those pics. you can hardly see the bolts

Look at the swing-arm angle compared to the top tube, in the slacker setting the angles are pretty much the same.

As for headsets, I'v got a FSA Big Fat Pig and havent had any problems at all.
I would say that Marin made a mistake with the 7.3 version, personally I dont like the air shock, it hasnt got enough "feel".[/Quote

does the top bolts slacken it..? i was wanted to know what they were there fore..also here are some pics of my bike from today..ready for the 2010 season..jus built the whole bike..i got the frame an now its readt to race..4711192
