Yeah I'm not going to go crazy when i get there. I remember from last time I was out there, feeling physically burned out after about 4 days haha ... so this time I'm trying to at least get my fitness up before I get out there.

The skills will have to catch up quickly though Wink

I am planning a road trip to Morzine next summer. Could anyone give me an indication of toll prices there and back please?

Via the A26 / A5 it's close to 60euro each way. It's the most direct route down.

Has any one done trip in caravan? can you just park up like guys in racevans is my main question. I know theres few campsites around and specific parking areas. Just looking at options for next year as we might not be in big group for large chalet and a lot are already booked. thinking either small caravan or trailer tent..

From what I've been seeing, the marie have been clamping down on campervan sites over the last 2 years, installing barriers and the like.... Too many seasonaires being dicks.

Myself and 6 others are planning a week out next year, I have been for many years but this time we will probably be going Airbnb and we will need to eat out in the evening (none of us really know our way around a kitchen) couple of questions-

How much on average would you spend daily per person for decent food without drinks, Talking pizza place rather than 5* restaurant?
Are there any caterers that deliver or make in your chalet/apartment?
Are there any take aways or delivery, dominoes, chinese for example?

Thanks

You can get lunches for 10-15 euro. This year I bought burger n shared chip, drank out of back pack for about 7.50. takeaway pizza from 10 euro, restaurants doe them too. As for Chinese/Indian theres takeaway one but it's expensive 20euro. If in Switzerland for lunch take packup or there big supermarket beside champery lift at bottom. Has hot food burgers etc. Look around as some places expensive. The cooked chickens from Carrefour are nice..

I think you could expect to spend up to 20 euros on a substantial evening meal. I'm talking Pizza, Chips, Drink.

There might be some cheap places to be found but I wouldn't know them; I have only been to Mamma's (which is now Cuisine 22 I think) and that's what I'm basing that price on. When I say "substantial" I mean an MTBer's refuel! So more than your average amount of food.

You would save so much money if any one of your group learnt to make a simple spaghetti bolognese or similar.

Pizza n drink in restaurant is 15 to 20, coke is as expensive as beer or wine. Some places do litres of house/table wine for 12 euro but need to ask as not on menus. Steak n chips is about 20, specials or cook your own stuff is 25. Yeah mamas or cuisine is a rip off, you can eat in restaurant cheeper so just look at menus as they all have them at entrances.

Cheers guys, I was budgeting £250-£350 each for the week, so that would fit in quite well.

Last year our package included evening meals except for on wednesday when it was staff day off.

We ended up eating in Les Get after going to the water park at a place that did unlimited Ribs and Wings which I don't think was too expensive, I cant remember the name of it at the moment, it was part of a block with a Specialised store in the basement, the restaurant on ground level and apartments above. Lots of other places which looked good too, so do try Les Get for evening meals as well as Morzine

anyone currently booked up for morzine/les gets this summer? Hoping to go twice, mid july and end of aug as both trips last year got cancelled. Just hoping this covid shit and brexit isnt going to ruin it again.

Yes i am booked up to go 10th July, Last year got cancelled but I drove and stayed elsewhere. Brilliant week away. The cancelled holiday with Alpine Elements was postponed to this year but they then went into liquidation in Decemeber. Got the money back through ATOL and we have all rebooked for this year. I was looking to go twice as well as its my 50th Birthday this year, but I reckon I will be lucky to go once and finances have taken a beating this year.

I dont think Brexit will have a major impact unless the £ really tanks but I cant see that happening. Covid is more of a worry. As long as travel is allowed and the accommodation doesnt go bust as the winter season has been a wash out then we should be OK.

Whatever you book, use a credit card as then you will get some protection.

Good luck, might see you out there!
