The Orange bikes booth at Eurobike 2008 head the honor to show there new proto DH bike since the 224(GBR) head been out for many years on the race field.

bigquotesSitting under the 'Strange' prototype label was this enormous monster. Orange is experimenting with using a linkage to control the end stroke of the shock. This one has a massive 3.5'' stroke Fox DH shock, ribbed bolted dropouts and an adjustable headtube angle

its about time orange start making something that can keep up with the market, no matter what you say orange bikes are a rip off, they are a basic single pivot design, they are folded Ali, no hydroforming fanciness and yet the cost the same as a V-10? just because they are made in britain doesnt make them worth it, and they have a terrible frame strengh track record, i know about 5 people who have cracked thier 223/4's.

that's exactly what I thought about orange too, but this new design looks awesome if you ask me, this bike would be top 4 on the list of bikes if I had to splash some cash down for 2009, and the fact that its got fox up front and back might be enough to bring it to top 2. Then again, now that 10.5 foxs' will be goin around soon next year, an M6 with Fox40+DHX hmmmmmmmm Pimp Fab Beer That calls for a celebration all in of itself.

I can not belive that you know 5 people who have broken their 22's, orange bikes are very strong reliable the expense comes from the British build quality, there worker's are paid more so the quality of the engineering is much higher then Taiwan or any other cheap state.

HAHA best comment of the day, do you not know that they are known as rice krispie bikes? because they go snap, crackle and pop? every 223/4 that people i know have had has cracked somewhere. usually on the swingarm, or shock mount.

True I've come across one with a crack in the swing arm (think it was a 222 /223, but in saying that I've heard that the likes of V10 aren't very hard to dent either!

You can't have it all - light weight and super tough strength - it's like some of the forks they make these days, the lowers are getting thinner and thinner every year.

On a side not I've never heard of them being called crispies, but Filing Cabinets because that's what they apparently sound like when coming down the hill (sound like a filing cabinet rolling down the hill).

Still it didn't stop me buying a 2nd hand 222 frame as my first DH bike, at least it won't wear out bushings and bearings like the Trance etc etc. If it cracks I'll get it professionally repaired.

Orange 223 and 224's are rad no matter what any of you say... Ride one before you judge it.
