Mk 4 with f*cked engine, you'd be lucky to get 500.

Thanks, the other bits not worth much then? The engine isnt f*cked, just cant be started at the moment and I dont have the time to swap out another sump.

id sell the wheels you will probs get a couple hundred for them alone. mk 4's are common as muck and from a buyer's perspective there is no way of guaranteeing that you haven't scored the piston bores or whatever. engines don't particularly like sudden loss of oil. it's a risky purchase for the buyer. a friend bought a mk4 1.4 petrol that had allegedly been over filled with oil for 400. He drained it, put the right amount of oil back in and drove it home. 10 miles later the engine seized because the oil pump failed....you get the idea.

Yeah I guess. I can weld the sump as a temp fix to show any perspective buyer that it runs. I just don't have the time.
Maybe i'll get the old man to do it, give him something to do, then use sump glue to put it back together...

Thanks for your advice.

Your best bet is to get the sump done and sell it might cost you £100 to do the sump but it will be worth 4 times as much

Dude scrappy or ebay will be your best bet

This. Fix it. You may be short on time, but time is money and for the small price and amount of time it'll take to fix, people will pay a lot more.

I'll give it a week on PH @ £800. If it sells then it sells. If it's still sitting on my dad's drive when I'm back from France I'll sort the sump and get it going.
Spending all my free time riding or down the gym, than any car playing time is spent working on the RX4 and the Hillman. The Daily driver needs a service also. Would be nice just to get rid.

Why not get a new sump from ebay? Without looking i'd guess it would cost you less than £100, and then its a case of jacking the car up slightly, undoing a million bolts around the rim of the sump, taking old one off and sticking the new one on...
It's not too likely you'll have to mess about with a new sump gasket or silicone sealant so it shouldn't take more than an hour to do the whole shibang... Simples really.

Saw my old Jetta drivin around town the other day. Doesn't look like the new owner takes very good care of it. Front bumper was all cracked and pushed in, scratches, etc.

Man I miss that car.
