thebillygoat, Are you running an 8.5 inch eye to eye rear shock? Cause if so you have to put the travel adjustment to the closest hole or else you are going to damage your frame.

yeah something is up with the shock but i plan on upgrading it first after i save up and if i cant get enough money in like 2 months ill just see if it needs to be fixed. i keep tellin the people at my lbs but they kept saying "oh its supposed to be like that, the shock is fine" but i keep saying in my head "yeah but when i sat on it for the first time it saged down like an inch and just stayed there oh and it is the right size
Take that out of that mounting hole now! you will wreck the bike like that!! I have the shock chart for the bike and its describes that combination of an 8.5" rear shock in the forwardmost hole as N.P.(not possible). Please just put it in the one of the other two positions if you dont want to wreck the bike! Or do what I did and get a larger shock that actually fits there.

WAIT before people start telling me that it is the wrong shock or im crazy let me tell you that it is the right size shock, the stock one. also right now my bike is in the shop getting the rear brake bled. and the other thing is that right now i have the shock in the middle hole and that pitcure was taken the morning after i got the bike the night before and i was experimenting with shock placement:P ps i hope i didnt sound like a douche pps soulbrother has an amazing flatline
Toronto international bike show friday boys hopefully gonna pick up some goodies: 2011 fox 40 kashima white Vivid Air 729 rear rim or maybe a new wheel set I'll see what I'm feelin like Saint cranks if I can find them for 200$ or less (prob not haha)
I hope I'll find some stuff there if not I'll just order it but anyways that's the build plan for this season
Isn't it a dh shock though? Dh bikes usually have a higher leverage ratio. What's the ratio anyways? 8.5/3 = 2.8? That's a pretty normal for a big bike.

I wish I could afford a CCDB
the shock size hhas nothing to do with the leverage ratio and btw it come stock with a 9.5*3

8.5 inches travel divided by the shock's stroke equals average leverage ratio (over full compression)

a foes mono has a huge shock but only 2:1 ratio lol

I don't think you quite understand what I'm talking about.. and the foes achieves a low leverage ratio by having a suspension design that can give it 10inches of travel from a 5 inch stroke shock. The benefits are being able to run a very light spring rate (about 150-200lbs i think) which in turn saves weight and supposedly shock adjustments make more of a difference when using a low leverage ratio.
A huge shock or a small shock doesn't matter. It's about SHOCK STROKE and rear wheel travel

When I speak about high leverage ratio i speak about the progressivity between the beginning of the stroke and the end.
The difference is very important on a flatline, its why it works well with bad rear shock as fox, vivid which don't require a good damping.
For the cane creek, i live in France and with the € i have sold the rc4 to a french et bought the ccdb for the less price in usa.

I also like how you have a boxxer, BOS sticker, FOX sticker, and a Canecreek shock:P
lol when I have received the frame I had a fox rc4 and i have put it a bos stoy which i had but after 2 stoy i would try ccdb. In waiting it comes, i rode with vivid 5.1 and now I ride with ccdb ^^
I should think to remove the stickers particularly the fox ! :p
