I don't think we should crimp on weight in some critical parts of our DH/freeride bikes.

Example:

I prefer coil shocks over air in my Marin xlt. Nothing beats coil in suppleness and durability.

Wheelsets, cranks, handlebars, fork, and pedals. Those parts that holds the most loads should be stiff and durable. Weight should not be a primary concern here.

You can lighten up seatpost, Shifters, Brake levers, RD's, FD's, Saddles and seatclamps. Those parts recieves minimal stress.

My bike weights 36.7 LBS but it's my all-mountain/freeride setup.

She's about 41 pounds. I'm quite satisfied with that, cause it (she) rides lighter than the weight would suggest...
you are so lucky
are you running tubless tires on the deemaxs

She is long gone now but was 36.3lbs with a coil sprung fork and ti. coil on the shock....No air!

read about it here

I remember this build.
Even though I'm Irish(Canadian) I've always loved this bike despite the paint scheme.

Wow! Is this your bike Yukon? Very nice! Old-school Giant DH. Hmmm... I can't guess the weight since this bike is a rarity.

46.95 on a shop scale. Coil F+R, Studded 2.7 Front, DH Tubes, Cheapo Post, Crazy heavy pedals, plenty of weight to be lost. Hopefully going to hit 43 in full race trim for next season.
