dude, it happens to everyone, especially those that stay young at heart. but man, willing to go riding with your son is awesome to begin with!! how many of your friends go and ride with their sons, let alone try a backflip! and not to sound corny, but if it was me, i would be more grateful about the progression of my father/son relationship than the progression of my riding. as for the riding inspiration, sometimes we need to look back and remember WHY we ride to continue progressing. when i get frustrated, i go back to basics. i think back to when i was kid riding my pro flex 455, that i worked my ass off all summer to buy, and how stoked i would get on clearing two pieces of plywood thrown on top of a couple cinder blocks. if your young at heart, don't let your mind tell you otherwise!! YOUR an inspiration! i hope and pray that when i have kids, that i can do the same thing that your doing with kids....having lots, and lots of fun.

It looks like he crashes in one session more than I do in one year. Not wanting to crash is one of the biggest things that holds me back. I'm such a whimp compared to this guy.
35 and suck at tricks, but the buzz i get with trying new stuff keeps me going yeah im never gonna win the crankworx but i dont care i still love riding as much today as when i first started.
I have been riding my bike for 4 years now and I am 40 now as we speak. Sometimes I wonder myself whether I am not a bit too long in the tooth for doing these things, but again, I can also see other people doing it and getting on with it, so why not give it a go. My background is that of a skater's, so I guess this experience is kind of reflecting upon my riding style in one way or the other. My idea is to train as much as I can until I can't, whatever the age. I've seen videos of over 60s strutting their stuff on full sus bikes as they cut their teeth with basic stuff and the like, so just keep going.
I know you might not believe me, but the food you are currently eating can also make the difference. Silly food makes people fat and stupid whereas intelligent food makes up for the brain and the body. As you keep progressing on your mountain biking skills, you will probably realize there is kind of an equation which is actually giving account for all the energy input you put through your mouth in terms of food against all that strength and riding power. It is also advisable you keep yourself in that very thin like in between starving yourself (just to smarten you up a bit) and having all proteins you need in your body to keep you going. To perform well you need to wake up to deeper and deeper levels of reality as a way to get yourself into knowing your own capabilities. Just let the force be with you as it is not strength but skills what you need. If you get too tired something's going wrong. I hope it helps.
