After an injury in June last year, I've been off the bike with recovery, and following a complication, surgery now means i have man scares, a section of hip in my shoulder and a ti plate in there too.

With 7 months off the bike, and physio complete, I thought I'd rebuild my bike.

Here follows the parts and build. Mostly standard parts, I will be throwing in a few custom features, to hopefully turn this bike, into something a little more unique.

I beleive its the details that make something what it is.

Build started with a trip to the metal finishers. They specialise in aluminium preparation and a chemical peel and peen later, my frame was rawed and ready to begin the build.

Following the frame stripping, I had it painted ice white, with a rainbow flake.

The flake does show up when dark as silver dots, but when the light shines it really makes the frame come to life. This is why the frame appears whiter than white.

Started the build last night.
The frame was picked up from the bike shop after a full frame preparation, facing, reaming and also I flushed and regreased all the pivot bearings for a smooth action.

Tonight been working on the first little extra touch. Brakes.
Not wanting to dissappoint, decided Codes are the way to go, mounted to Juicy carbon levers.

Unfortunetly this is where I stop. Awaiting the parts go any further. Snowing in Britain, and this 4" of snow has sent everyone into a panic and noone does what they are paid for. So until more parts arrive, I'm at the mercy of the weather for more updates.

Bikes looking really cool, this is more of a comment just to subscribe but how much did get painting cost you? including the chemical peel and all the prep work?

Posted: Feb 5, 2009 at 14:00 Quote
Chemical prep and blast - £25
Paint with metal flake - £35
Full frame prep - £30

Hope this helps

With my current injury the Xray pedals seamed too good to pass up, adding that personal touch for me. Threadlocked the pins aswell.

Cranks cam back from the powder coaters.

And the assembly thus far.
I think the white will be a b1tch to clean, but also thinks it will help give a more racer look, and more professional finish.

And of course, everyone knows white is the fastest colour. Its the transit van principle.(please look it up)
