Buy white Lightening Lube. Made for the drivetrain on bikes but it works like a charm on stanchions.

No I wouldn't use that. All Fox uses is 7wt. Motorcycle suspension oil. You can buy it at any motorcycle shop and they are really cheap. It has to be fork or suspension fluid, not motor oil.

He's not talking about internal oil. He wants to lube his stanchions and seals. Motor oil is not what you should use, but White Lightening or a different brand of lube specifically made for stanchions will work.

yes...fox actually rebadges torco rsf medium and sells it as their fox 7wt oil....the petro can 10w-40 is 3x as viscous as the torco rsf medium

Oh you are talking about what oil you can put on the outside of the stantions, not the inside of the fork right? I use the same oil that goes inside the fork on the outside of my stantions. I just drop a little oil onto my stantions, let it drip down to the seals so that it completely surrounds the seal, and then I cycle the fork up and down to lubricate the stantions. That way I know the oil I'm using wont screw up my stantions because it is the same oil that is meant to be used to lubricate the stantions during riding.

A typical bottle of fluid ranges from $7-$15

Wait, I'm confused now. Where are you going to put the oil? Inside the damper, inside the lowers, or outside on the stantions?

damper side and spring side oil bath.....not the damper and not the dust seals/wipers

Ok in that case, all you need is to drop 50ml of 7wt. Suspension fluid into both the damper and the spring chambers after draining the clean oil.
