I've got an 18" Giant Reign ('05) with the stock Manitou air shock.
Does anyone have experience with this frame? I'm wondering if upgrading the shock would make a noticeable improvement?
What would you suggest?
Thanks

It makes a significant difference, BUT, you cant clear anything with a reservoir. The best setup for it is either a float or vanilla that has been tuned by Push, then you dont have a reservoir and still have killer performance.

Hold on, Vanillas all have a reservoir, less the older Van R's.

Perhaps what you are talking about and what I am thinking about are not the same thing?

Vanilla. Not the RC. Im talking the R. Its quite a shock when tuned.

OK, so we are talking about the same shock. The new Van R's run on the same chassis as a DHX now. The older ones however do not have the res, which would be what we are talking about. I don't doubt that it would be a killer shock if properly valved. My stock Van R was nice and smooth, and with a properly valved piston would have been a wicked shock.
