Hi, Ive been reading a lot of bad stuff about Marzocchi recently, with forks breaking, blowing and generally failing left, right and centre for 2008. Have they solved this problem for 09, as their forks (the base model 888s, im looking at) are quite a bit cheaper than other manufacturers offerings, but will they hold up OK? Thanks jam15457
thw 888's are fine it was really only the dirt jumpers and the 55's that had regular problems and they have been sorted most other problems are just random

the 888 are all fine there hasnt been that many problems with them iv had no probs with any of mine
OK cool, thats what i wanted to know. what caused so many problems with their forks, was it just bad manufacturing, but how did it happen for a whole year? jam15457

basically the 55's were a new fork and they were poorly designed and built with poor quality parts then the djs they used a new rebound cartridge wich kept cracking stopping the travel

for 2008 marzocchi stopped making their forks in Italy and moved it to taiwan. they are now built by Sr Suntour. this is the main problems with their new forks, bad manufacturing. most are fine. but i agree the 55s have had a few problems, but the 888s are fine. every now and then someone has one that breaks, but thats just random. if its the 888 rcv your looking at they will be fine, low maintanance, and hardly anything to go wrong.
I heard a bird singing on taipei-cycle-show that the new 888 will be aprox. 2.8kg including crowns and axle with open oilbath and titanium spring... but I first will believe it when I will have to oportunity to put it on the scale!
probably to do with maximising profits in hard economical times
it was before the economic downturn. i think it was because by having them built in taiwan they could have more forks built quicker for less money (lower wages, longer working hours ect.) but the standard is not as good as that of the forks when they were built in italy. some people say the 2008+ marzocchi aren't very smooth compared to earlier models. i cant say because ive only rode 2005, 2006 and a pair of 2008 DJ3s. the DJ3s felt terrible, but they are the bottom of the range forks so i expect no more from them. alot of the problems are over-exagerated by people on pinkbike as one person tells another something and they exagerate it.
