No prices have been released but the option is there and 500 Euro is a massive exaggeration. I'm sure your parents would be more than willing to support you in buying armour if meant it was decreasing the likelihood of injury.
I've heard about the forums that it could be around 500 with a neck brace, so still leaving it around 250ish...
Not cheap whatever way you look at it, everyone's still waiting to hear if you can use a modified 661 pressure suit with the neck brace, at this stage f*ck all is known, they're just left us hanging with no proper information.
All the younger ones could ask for armour for Christmas if needed be but now, because of lack of information, they run the risk of buying the wrong armour and not being able to race.

I'm just sayin'.

Without being disrespectful to the organisers, cos they do a sweet job on the races, but I don't think they're too sure themselves. None of em want to take responsibility without discussing it with the other organisers, which might not be until another meeting or even the 1st race of the season.

This summer I am gonna be in Galway with my roommate and his friend. We were thinking we would just get some beater bikes and cruise around on the road but if there are legit trails or jumps around maybe ill ship one of my bikes. The only problem is none of us can rent a car so we have to ride to the trails.

To be honest you won't get far in Ireland without being able to rent a car. Public transport is dire.

if your going to Galway id say bring a trail bike and there's plenty to do around the place, there is a class pumptrack in Moycullen about 5miles out of town and a mini DH run near Tuam,

give these lads a shout and they will point you in the right direction

Yeah, saw after I asked the question :L

You should write a blog about it and publish it to the PB homepage... PB should approve it, even if it's only a small story. Get more coverage than just putting it here or on Irish DH or whatever would get

http://gravityenduro.ie/

Gravity Enduro combines the fitness of cross country riding and the technique of downhill racing. There are many different formats for Gravity Enduro racing and we like to think ours is the perfect combination of competition and a great day on the bikes with your mates.

It's a two day event with optional practice on Saturday and the race only on Sunday. There will be a small get together in the local pub the night before the event to make sure all competitors are well hydrated. The course takes is approximately 25km long and has several downhill "special stages" running simultaneously. You can start the event in any order between 10am and 11.45am; you could ride together with a group of your pals for example.

The route to the start of each special stage is uphill, but there is no time limit to get there. On average, the event route takes 3 hours to complete and the special stages are each between 5 and 10 minutes long.

What makes this event so enjoyable is the flexible timing system. There are no start orders, no queuing, no waiting for results. You receive a timing chip on the morning of the event and must “clock in and out” yourself at the start and finish of each special stage. The best bit; you are handed your own printed times as soon as you finish, so you can compare with your buddies straight away.

There are four or five mainly downhill special stages in each event and the person with the lowest accumulative time is the winner. The perfect bike will be a mid travel trail bike; though you will probably fine most opt for a slightly shorter 120mm. The descents will be technical in places to justify having to pedal a 150-160mm travel bike all day. You will be able to ride safely down the course without doing any major jumps or drops, but this event is not suitable for beginners.

Each venue will have its own unique terrain and challenges. There are trophies and prizes for the top 3 riders in each category for each event and the overall series and a Pot of Gold (cash prize) for the fastest rider on each special stage in each event. Riders are broken up by age categories (min age 16 years old) and one Pro Category. The winner of the Gravity Enduro Series shall be crowned the best all round rider in the country.

full press release to follow but in the mean time...

f*cking great news that an enduro is happening here in Ireland

The timing chips are great ideas.

Wish I was old enough to do one though!

I also we see some pros come over for some of the events like Remi absalon and Dan atherton as he has now switched to enduro!!

We are delighted to have Chain Reaction Cycles supporting the events as title sponsor.
