Hello! I have came across a 2021 RockShox Pike DJ, i am itching to put it on a DJ or Slopestyle bike. I came across a Black Market Kill Switch.
The seller states it has freshly rebuilt suspension pike, spank spike wheels, profile racing hubs, zee rear break, fresh pads and bleed. Looks like he has ZEE cranks as well. He has it posted for 1000. Is that a fair price? Is the fork any good? I plan to just sell it anyway. He says the front wheel is a 15x100. Meaning i can use my pike dj, he also said it has a tapered headtube, is that correct? Lmk thanks guys
It doesn't look like it has a tapered headset in place, however a 1.5" external bottom cup can be installed (I'm almost certain) because of the 44mm headtube. That era Pike is almost 100% definitely a straight steerer and most if not all of them were 20 x 110mm axle.. again I could be wrong, some later models may be 15mm but all that I have seen and worked on have been 20x 110.
You ask if 1000 is a good price, 1000 what? Handfuls of grain? 1000 BTC? 1000 Yen..
As for the fork, it is an awesome fork, I run a similar era Pike on one of my builds. Is it coil or is it air? As they both react very very differently..
That looks like an argyle rct, not a pike. It could be pike uppers/internals but regardless it's a straight 1 1/8th steerer and 110x20mm axle. You can get a new lower cup (ec44 instead of zs44) to run a tapered fork and you should be able to get new cones or an axle for the front hub from profile.
It's a great deal, don't sit on it. My killswitch sold for a lot more than that.

Ohh yeah dang... How didnt I realise they were Argyle lowers.. I was so fixated on the headset
1000 usd. He said or best offer too. I have a lower headset cup for tapered fork that i used on my 20' transition pbj would that work? It seems like his is a air fork. For mine it's a air fork too. He said it was a 15x100 so if i go look at it i would probably check if that was the case. Is the fork on the bike worth much or is it pretty much old chump change?
In the UK DJ scene the Argyle is Highly sought after at the moment.. it is reliable and reputable as well as easy to work on. 1000 USD is a freakin' bargain.. I'm amazed you're even here questioning that price , not over there laying down cold hard caysh monies

Yup, that's the right headset. 99% sure that fork is 110x20mm but it shouldn't be too hard to convert the wheel to 15x100. You should be able to get $3-500 for that fork due to covid prices and high demand for 1 1/8th forks.

Go get that bike, it's a great deal.
I was on the way to his house to meet him. He didn't tell me someone else was meeting before me, and he sold it as i arrived.
just wondered if there is such a thing as a killswitch owner/user manual? did they originally come with any documentation regarding torque recommendations etc?
