The people I ride with say over and over again: « If I had your legs I would do that ! ». Being tall is a great thing in many aspects of riding. If you know how to do a bunny hop longer legs means more impulse, for exemple. However shorther people can do them maybe higher than you ... I think dirt is not the best thing to do when you are tall... Street is !
im a football player 6'2 230... being big saves my ass everytime i hit the dirt. one hit on the football field is pretty much the same as hitting the dirt when u fall. the thing is during a football game its non stop hitting. im a defensive lineman, so when i wad on dirt just once i laugh and shake it off.. the sad thing is im accustomed to concussions and im a lil head damaged.. but lifting wieghts and throwing bodies has made me be able to throw my bike around like its nothing... i corner with the precision of a drunken gorilla though that the only side effect.
Hitting the gym really helps. Because we are big it takes more effort and control when we are throwing our weight around. I started working out on core and hip exercises and it's made a huge improvement in my riding.

But there is no dh tracks around my area
greg minaar, steve peat ,nathan rennie and brandon faircloth are all 6ft 3+ .. seems height is a major advantage in downhill.. imagine how good sam hill would actually be if he was a foot taller
