nails u can pound in but screws unless you want a lot of split wood you have to pre drill the holes

it will only crack with really old dried out would..if u pick up wood at the shop it should be saturated at 19% moisture so if u build it when u pick it up you should be fine

you dont have to pre drill unless you are using crappy lumber. just screw about an inch from the edge and it wont crack

i would use 3" wil hold alot better 2.75" at least

2" will be fine for the skin but not for the frame, thats where you need 3"

are u going to use like pallet wood? if so for the decking 2 in is fine but if u use 2 by 4s for the fram or joists use 3 inch screw

2x6? for the deck of it...thats a alot of unneed money spent...you could just strip pallet tops which is free or use 1 by 5 decking boards that is pressure treated and meant for outdoor use.
