Heckler

Folks, technical question. I have sold my 2012 Heckler frame (straight 1.125 head tube), and the dude wants to fit a fork that has a 170mm long steerer tube. I didn't check before shipping it off to him. Is there a way of making this work, by using witchcraft and headsets? Frame is a large - and from what I can tell, it only uses external headsets.

Appreciate any feedback.

Frank.

Size L has a 4.7" (~ 120mm) head tube. Cane Creek EC headsets have 16mm upper stack height and 12mm lower. So he's working with only 22mm to clamp, maybe less depending on crown race height. That's gonna be tough.

A Syntace FlatForce would work if he wants his bars REALLY low.

Running that Flatforce stem upside down actually doesn't look terrible.

Another short steerer option I saw this morning: https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/941192/

I dig everything except the saddle.

Saddle, bars and stem are from last bike and are on the replacement list. Was thinking of a Chromag Trailmaster, I am totally color blind, would the black or brown look better?

Build Goals,

1. A bike I can work on at home
2. Simple/dependable
3. Climbs well descends even better

It has been done for about 2 months. Finally posting the pictures now.

The frame arrived

Almost....

Custom frame build

All above goals have been met!
Future changes will be green ano spacers at the stem and eventually a 150mm dropper.
