Hello

I have just purchased a dh frame that is powder coated black , i need to remove this paint to get it re powder coated as they want an extra £60.00 to do this.
I was wondering if Nitomors works.

Any help is apretiated.

cheers

Nitromorse will help, but it won't remove it all. Depending on the quality of the current powder coating, you could need anything from a wire brush or a week off work/school and a lot of sandpaper.

Permatex Gasket Remover is worth looking into. I've read on a couple sites that its a good product for removing powder coating.

Powder coating is really tough. It might be worthwile paying the extra coin and letting them do it. Don't let just anyone shot blast your frame as that will damage it. It needs to be glass bead blasted to be effective.

Thanks for all the comments guys and i will be tryin the gasket remover, the thing is i can't find anybody close to were i live that does glass bead blasting ,the only do shot blasting which is steel ball bearings.
I need the paint removing asap so may have to go with shot blasting if gasket remover does not work.

Thanks again guys

Acetone (nail polish remover) does the job. I've got a friend who works in an engineering workshop and they have a tank of the stuff. I got him to drop my powdercoated headstem in for a few hours and hey presto - back to the metal.
The other method I know works is sandblasting.
