I'd say if you're insisting on running a brake, try and find a 140mm rotor? Other then that, build sounds good.. can't wait to see the colour Razz

well i don't personally like avid disks there not that good as far as power and the brake pads cost more than Hayes

i would go the hayes hydro sole or hydro MX1 or MX2,i have and use sole and mx2. i find them very good not to heavy and if you go sole or mx1 you can buy the brake pads from mountain eq for very cheap and there very good pads.

and man if i had the cash i would buy the Brembo's lol a friend of mine has them on his rocky mountain dirt jumper bike.they look so pimp and are the exact same as the ones they make for motor bikes just a bit smaller for mtb.and they have the big Brembo logo on them.the brakes are dual piston push on each side of brake pad in the caliper and have floating rotters so you will not bend them

there the best brake i have ever seen for any MTB and stopping power is insane
they are made to stop high performance race cars and bikes so to put that technology and power on a MTB!!!!

I use a BB7 with a 140mm rotor and an Odyssey Monolever, it's perfect for street. You'll never break a BB7, you can make it feel like any other brake out there, and the 140mm rotor stays out of the way. I run my Monolever in a few inches, so it has no overlap with my grip and never gets in my way, and the tiny lever never gets hit on anything. I used to run linear pull cable, I'd recommend that too.

Only downside, it's a bit heavy, but the Hope 140mm rotor and ti rotorbolts help keep the weight down a bit. I like the set-up so much I may just get ti bolts for the caliper.

Look for the Alligator Windcutter. 60ish grams in 140mm size, which is ridiculously light (my Hope 140mm rotor is 85g), and cheap on eBay. eBay stores are your best bet for stuff like this. I'm sure you'd figure this out, but you just use a front 160mm adapter to run a 140mm rotor on the rear.

what brake would you recommend?

Is money an issue? Because I ride an Ultimate, with a Carbon leaver and Goodridge. I love it, its light, powerful, and has modulation. But it will run you about 600$ new with a carbon leaver and Goodrigde...

Im not sure of the weight of a Avid Single Digit 7, but I also dont know if a V-Brake is an option for you...
