bike zone (barrie) are fair guys, and have saved me alot of time and money with their sevice. A+ in my books.
momentum cycles (barrie) is a pretty good bike shop too. i have only been there a couple times, and the owner is a pretty cool dude. only downside i know of so far is his wheel building...35 per wheel + 30 for spokes and nipples. to get 2 wheels done, you are looking at 130 bucks. like i said, i havnt been there much, but so far they get an A-
Bikeland (barrie) has to be one of the shitiest bike shops in the world. i got ripped off, and basically accused of being a liar, becasue those a*sholes sold me a piece of shit part. i have also heard many other stories of their retardation. i give then and F for f*ck UPS. they fail in the worst way possible
bike sports (richmond hill) i was there alot when i lived in the hill, and i found their manager to be one of the coolest dudes out there. they are based more on XC and Road bikes, so if your a BMXer this isnt the shop for you. but still, nice group of guys who will try their best to get the job done. i give them an A
i have been to a few other shops, but not enough times to have an opinion.
Kunstadt sports in ottawa. rated like #1 (look it up if you do not believe me)
theyre decent just had a buddy move from my shop to kunstadts, but i had a bad experience there. like i bought my norco there and they never told me that i had to true the wheels and retension the spokes after a couple of weeks( i was a newb and didnt know) and i destroyed both my wheels. and apparently it wasnt covered under warranty so i took it to freshair and got a sick deal on a wheelset there. i mean last time i went to kunstadts it took 10 mins before anybody asked me for help and when i looked at a bike i was pretty much buying the bike and the sales person had no interest in selling it to me so yeah. just my opinion but apparently the techs that work there are among the best
damn strait! im one of them
I haven't had the chance to deal with Kunstadt, but have left my bike in the hands of a few others in Ottawa. FreshAir really helped me a jam. I had no cash with me on a ride when I destroyed my crank. They were backed up for a month with their service, but they helped me right away... I then raced home to get my wallet and head back to pay for the new crank. Cycle Power is another one of my fav's. Bushtukah & Pecco's kick ass! But what ever you do... Stay away from Tommy & Levbre. Terrible service.
"My own shop, I build my own wheels, set up brakes/gears, singlespeed and fixie specialist. All by appointment only. "The Bike Guy"
I too am the only person I trust enough to touch my bike.
+1, when i took my frame in to another shop to get warrantied i stripped off as many parts as i could so it was just the frame, didnt even want to take my frame there but i can probably get a new frame so its worth it

tommy & lefebre is terrible, we have bunch of people for ski stuff that come into our shop cause they had a bad experience at t&l and have boots that are way too big way too small or their not wide enough and we have to stretch them like crazy. havent been there in a while but their boot selection is apparently all overthe floor in 1 part of the store and theres 2 guys who dont know shit helping fit them. and if you ever have to come into my shop(dinardos skis & wheels) ask for adam, i always try and give fellow mtbers the best service possible and give em a deal where possible. were more of a hybrid/cruiser/commuter bike shop but i try with mtb's
