what exactly would hit and miss mean?

I have a set of Revolution 32's. I bought them used and the rear was very taco'd and had a large flat spot in it when I got it. However, I trued it up well and even though the flat spot is still there, they have been maintenance free all season so far, and have not needed anything but occasional spoke tightening. Hubs are still smooth.

But for the money, there might be better options for long term durability?

I am not a downhiller, but definately do not take it easy on wheels.
