Go ahead, pay these f*ckers $100 per hour, just choose the hour a week they work. $400 a month is a livable wage, right ???

I mean, why SHOULDN'T bike mechanics make as much as rocket scientists or brain surgeons? lol

We're offering $40/hr for professional instructors... think i've got a better chance of becoming a brain surgeon than finding coaches.

What? I'm in.

I’ve helped kids put together bikes, one thing for sure, they didn’t overtighten anything!

Comical how precious some of these modern bicycle technicians think their knowledge is, it’s only familiarity that separates them from a basic home mechanic, Christ they are slow to build a bike, laughable that they say it takes time to do it correctly, no son, you just ain’t up to speed.

Few specialist tools and your away

True, that if you can read you can cook, but a decent chef has vast expertise. True skill, served over time. Huge variety of skillsets

Truly delusional to think that because mtbs are so “Rad , trick , fli” (or whatever previously used cool slang), that being a part of that makes you real special, like ‘wow, finger on the pulse duuuude’ shit
I could go on to their respective wages lol Yep, your skills ain’t of value cock ends. ‘Basic maintenance with a twist’ ..at f*cking best Hahaha

Fake respect makes my piss boil

Spot on! It all starts with being showered with praise for just showing up and not being okay to talk about actual performance.

Why are you reading to cook? Don’t you just know how to do it? Appreciate you recognizing that being a chef carries a lot of knowledge and intuition that is built through practice and time.

I used to tell students when I was teaching at culinary school the difference between a cook and a chef. Cooks know how, Chefs know why.

This is the big thing... there's nothing on a bike I can't do myself except build wheels, and that's 90% because I've never tried and 10% because I don't own a truing stand. There multiple times that I've done shit that shops told me couldn't be done and even more that I've corrected shit shops did wrong... even on just road bikes so we're not even talking about suspension complexities either.

It’s always a bummer when you pay a shop to do something “special” and have to re do it once you get home.

Not at all, 18th place is quantifiable....you were the 18th loser! Of course, it is all relative. If you took 18th place in a WC downhill, that is something to be proud of. If your 18th place trophy were for, say a spelling bee with 20 contestants, well, then, hopefully you can do the math!

HAPPY FRIDAY to all you old f*cks! Cool

Exactly.

we get to hear about it often here on PB, when someone can build a wheel they get all Peacock like, but basically, they are just affirming that they now possess the skills to build a bike in its entirety.

Looked into a truing stand and various suspension gizmos and gadgetry then realised that I already know people whom love it so much they bought into it years ago.
They do the job quicker , more cost effectively, they are enthused, takes all the hassle and associative costs away .. they are not expensive - time vs money - take my money

Got Fox, Rockshox, Marzocchi, X-Fusion and DVO suspension (DVO now gone) to service and fettle , I’d rather send it off , same reason as before

If I was young and keen (with f*ck all going on in the background, like commitments lol) I’d do it all with consummate ease, but I’m not! Take my money

Really dislike having to spell this shit out on a bike forum , but discussion reigns supreme, no need to belittle anyone, the facts don’t change just because I’m stating them , a job is a job after all. Get out of jail card lol Jailbreak

Can you imagine the backlash if I lead off with this (all the above) in that thread?

Mods would be busy for sure
