what do you guys think for a beginner? Im liking the film so that i can learn to do everything right...
Sounds like a pretty good kit, although a wider angle lens would really make it good. Go to your local camera shops and see if they have any Minolta 10-35mm lenses or something around there.

Well, for landscapes, you'd probably want something wider than a 35mm. The shorter the mm (say 35mm vs 20mm) the wider shot and more stuff you can fit into the shot.

Thanks man lenses and such seem to be pretty cheap for the old minolta's, so maybe i will look into it. How do you guys find film for action shots?
when shooting in sunny outdoor venues using slave flashes, how do i get the flash to still light the rider up while stopping the motion completely. im uploading examples as i speak. any ideas on how to get rid of this motion blur

I would say use a higher shutter speed, but i'm sure you've thought of that. Check out this for a tutorial on how to do a shutter speed than the camera's sync speed. Check here for more tutorials on it.
i cant find an example because im on my ipod, but how do you get the shots where the object is a blur, like on a road with the car lights or a river, do you just increase shutter speed?

Like this? Tripod, and a long shutter speed. So anywhere from second to minutes or hours. Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://www.worldofstock.com/slides/TRC2241.jpg
