Might be building a mini-ramp in a friend backyard come next spring. If I had a barn I'd make one though.

How would I go about building a backflip ramp to flip a DH/FR bike? I've been told I should maybe go about 5ft tall but that's it.

hmmmm, for a bigger bike i'm not sure whether to say steeper or mellower. i built a 5' tall ramp and used an 8'6 radius and he rides a jackal and says its perfect. if your going to be backflipping maybe use an 8' radius

ok, cheers. yeh usually the ramps/jumps I build are mellow, as the wheelbase of my bike is quite long.

How would I go about constructing the jump with that radius, say? I've only built smaller ramps before, and only by eye, as the radius wasn't that critical.

just drew these up on Google's Sketch-Up. Should help anyone looking to build a kicker. The surface plywood is covering half of the ramp, to give you a look at what it looks like finished but also show the ribs.

does 5' tall by 9' long with a 7.5' radius sound good for a trick jump/kicker with a dirt landing and a 8' gap?
