Some other questions I had about a Good Dual Slalom race bike ARE, How much travel Should a Dual Slalom bike have? 4inch? 5inch? 6inch? Weight? I'm Thinking 20-30s Tire Width? Fork Travel?
The bike I've been using for Dual Slalom racing is a Rocky mountain Flatline pro, It Weights 48lbs and has 8inchs of Travel. Thanks for your help
You are talking about 2000-4500, huge gap there If you are looking at a race bike, dont even consider reign sx or specialized sx trail, you want a specific 4x/ds frame, either a hardtail or a full suspension. About the weight, thats hilarious, between 20 and 30. It all depends what you are doing with it. Its pretty easy to built a fully under 28. But if you are planning to abuse it a lot (whistler or something), it should end up at a pretty solid low 30.
Personally I had a specialized SX (200 and loved it.
You can also look at morewood ndiza, commencal meta 4x, transition double, yeti 4x, norco 4x, banshee rampant, turner rail/4x, etc.
Im not in hardtail market anymore but you should check the yeti DJ, it looks dope.
Im planning on building one for my winter project, morewood ndiza st frame, fox 36 100mm, full xt, 819 on hadley, should be under 30 pounds and pretty solid.
it shouldnt have more than 4 inches back, 100 or 120 up front. weight depends from you, your budget and what you are planning to do with it.
Its really not fun to ride a downhill bike on a real dual slalom run (not giant slalom, Im talking here about a DS track like whistler and World cup).
A proper 4x/ds fully bike under 30 pounds on those tracks is SO MUCH FUN, you cant even compare it to anything else. Switching from a 48 DH bike to that is day and night.
I'm a Banshee whore, and therefore going with the Rampant. A VERY nice little bike. As stated more than capable of handling bigger stuff while being nimble enough for the small stuff.
