Hey, so i recently bought a 2006 Specialized SX Trail for 1100. It feels amazing but its way to heavy for my liking. Weighing in at 49 pounds, which isnt an ideal weight for a FR and SS bike... So this thread is dedicated to builing the bike. If you have any suggestions, feedback on items, or have a part that I'm looking for, post here!

Curent bike:

Juciy Five(rear) or Code Fives(both)
Azonic Outlaws(250USD) or Mavic Deetracks(250USD)
Sunline DH stem and Sunline V-3 bars(70 for both together)

How in the world did you end up at 49 pounds?? My first suggestion: Find a new scale, that one's way off. My 06 SX(pics in my profile somewhere) had an Avalanche Chubbie shock, 2006 66 RC2X, Generic seatpost and seat, Azonic Outlaw wheels, Saint cranks, dual ring front w/chainguide and 2ply tires and it weighed 37 pounds. On single plys it was 35 pounds.

You scale has to be jacked. GO weigh yourself holding your bike on the floor scale, then without the bike and subtract the difference, see what that says...I'm curious now...

49 pounds?! Holy smokes that's quite heavy for an SX Trail. My Shocker weighs in at 43! Try getting some new rubber, a new seat and seat post, and new bars. And when your budget allows you too, get a new fork.

36 fo sho. but you seriously must have a f*cked up scale. theres no way that it weighs 49 pounds haha. if it does, you should look into wheels, and tires first. considering your a smaller, lighter kid, id maybe look into some lighter wheels. the deetraks are heavy as shit, and the outlaws are pretty heavy aswell, i believe??? id look at some ringle wheelsets. and for tires, if you wanna keep it light, maybe consider only putting a 2 ply in the rear, and a single in the front. if you still have the money left, holzfeller cranks are not exactly light either.
