Widest I would go is 23 to 25mm I am running a set of H plus Sons Archetype rims with a 23mm inner and they have been great. I dont think I would go wider.

I'm looking to fit some Salsa Woodchipper handlebars to my Mukluk, it's got rigid Whisky forks and 29x3 surly rabbit hole rims. I'm struggling to find compatible kit that isn't either electric gear change or cable operated brakes.
If I cant find anything I will stick with Jones H loop bars and conventional mtb brakes and shifters.
