Ummm get the ones you can afford. Or get Gold Label II's, if you don't need the travel adjust/lockout, and want something stronger.

454 has an aluminium steer tube so its not good for DJ / FR.

426 is good but not dual air you want coil / spring.

Not familiar with the other "Pikes" but you don't need all the external controls once you have the fork set up the way you like it. If you change riding styles like Park then DJ then FR regularly then get the external controls. Definately service the fork according to the manufacturers schedule. The fork will feel way better especially the first few oil changes.

So recap: Get the chromoly steer tube and the Coil / spring internals. After that its personal preference.

i ride the 426, nice fork. dose well for dirt jumps and street nice and light and the travel adjustment really comes in handy. dont know your price range but the 426 us pretty nice

Get the 426 Coil U-Turn WITHOUT poplock. Poplock is a bar-mounted lockout lever that is really irritating.

Not stanchions. It's the steerer that is steel. That's not a big deal. The big strength difference between the 426 and 454 comes from the hollow crown on the 454. The solid crown on the 426 is much stronger.

Yup the crown is solid on the 426. You wanted a "light" fork but for DJ and FR its going to have to have some beef to it.

I got my Pike 409's for 400 they're 06's and were virtually Unused when i bought them Smile They're the heaviest of the PIke's But i would imagine they're stronger than the Air driven pikes.
