One of the first orders of business for Mind Spark Cinema was obvious - create a crash compilation of the best, worst, strangest and funniest crashes we've captured over the last few years. This is the result.
This reminds me; that the Pro's have fallen many times. We usually only see the videos with only the best takes put together. But the reality is, they have fallen, hard, many times, but the reason they are so good is because they get back up and try again!
Inspiring in so many ways beyond just mountain biking.
Yeah the fork snapping one is actually pretty funny. I'm sure the rider wasn't too stoked at the time, but it's better than his face hitting that lip. The one where the dude hit his nads on the metal railing at the skatepark made me cringe a lot though. Ouch...
man that fork failure could have been deadly.. watched it happen to a buddy while riding trials and when the steer tube snapped it went through his face.... it was scary shit.
How is the guy in the third to last crash? I crashed like that a month and half ago, and shattered my collarbone. If his is still in one piece, life's not fair. But seriously, I hope he, nor none of you (is)are injured in a crash like that. Damnnn, even if I could ride, I wouldn't want to. (2:45)
@RedzNC, apparently a well built wheel, would love to know what it is.
Hangovers are best treated with cheeto's for sure...... and chocolate milk, My couch is like a snack factory it's a wonder the old lady even sits on it
when I watch this It reminds me again that there are really lucky angels out there! Yes we get hurt but it could be all worse... those guys better have a good Physio and do their stretching ! ..because when you get older you understand that you pay a prize for all those crashes! And I know what i am talking about here..I am 35 and did Dirt Competitions from 1996 till 2011.
the best crashes are the ones where the guy just sits there in shame (and we know they're ok), just thinking "did that really just happen?" like the attempted flare that just has a soft landing on the trees, the bike that magically decides to stand up on its own, or the guy with the broken fork lol. Just the moments that people were glad to have caught on film. The laughing rider just face-palming himself X)
If anybody ever told me that somebody could break their front forks clean off during a jump, and not take a taste of the dirt, I'd tell them they were full of it. That kid should have gone immediately to the store and bought a lottery ticket.
The way he landed on that jump put extreme pressure on the steertube that would only happen in that exact scenario. I think most 1.125 steertube forks would have snapped.
10 minutes ago i've been watching Daniel Sandoval's new edit. I was stoked and I needed bike. After watching this i'm glad it's snowing and a liitle pause didn't hurt anyone yet:p
The first one was funny Though, the bike just stands there while the rider flys away lol. Thats our Sport and we gotta deal with it, if u havent fall yet, ur time is coming. On my last crash i fractured my elbow but i'm back again ready for another one!!
So now Pinkbike has provided us with - Monday: Heres some cool videos that make you want to ride but you cant because its Monday, and now Its Friday: Heres some videos that will scare you form riding on your weekend...thanks guys!
Crashes and injuries are always gonna be a part of this sport, but they will never keep us from riding and having fun on our bike! ..after every injury, the desire to get back out there gets bigger and bigger every time! Mountain biking is not just a sport, it's a way of LIVING!
Wow it really seems that (for the most part) we have reached a stage where our bikes a better equipped to go through the crap we put them through than our bodies are! Fortunately our bodies heal. Bikes don't!
i feel the pain of some of those guys...i had a few high speed crashes this past season and they were no fun. im not crazy enough to do whips or flips so i dont know anything about those crashes though...
Not to discredit any of the other riders, because there was certaintly bigger things in the video, but Aggy trying to backflip the crabapple hits blows my mind, probably because ive ridden them and can't even straight clear em.
What I mean is that some guys rip their bikes in two or demolish a rim. Some of the crashes at crankworx 2012 was 10 times worse. I agree that many of these crashes are funny and pretty crazy.
I can't agree with you on this one. Seeing the pros get their lickings makes it all seem more real and attainable. If the pros were always flawless it would be discouraging every time we crashed; instead, by seeing that the best of the best still have their failures before their epic successes, it encourages me to keep pushing and trying because thats the same way that the pros got to where they are. Casing a jump hurts just the same whether you are a no-name rider or a pro, the pros just get their "web-redemption" shot to show what perseverance is.
one of the, if not the most entertaining crash reel I've ever seen- awesome work! also liked that none of the crashes really made you cringe, but instead just made you say 'oh shit, that sucks, ha haa.'
good bye ribs, good bye wrists, good bye leg, good bye face, good bye 400 dollar helmet, good bye forks, good bye back, good bye tail bone, good bye life! ha ha sweet vid
I did a front flip (accidental) over a boulder yesterday and landed on more boulders. Really makes me wish I had a camera for all the times I've crashed... would make me feel a lot better afterwards lol.
WOW! Serious piles there. Again though, it makes me wonder why everyone wears only knee pads? I'm pretty sure I didn't see one bail that used them. They all looked upper body and head smashers to me.
Sometimes one wants to cringe, sometimes one nearly dies laughing watching this sort of thing.
Guy at 1.22 is having the Killer Whale treatment given him by his bike.
I love watching these videos its so much more fun laughing at someone elses crash. In a video you can see whats happened when I crash I have to guess what happened or ask someone who saw what happened.
That was Rock Shox Pike 454 mate.
Yeehhhaaaaaaa..... that was the best bit for me, when the fork snapped.
Happened to me once long time ago, I just know that feeling,

One lesson learnt ....
If it's going tits up = Bail Out Quickly !

ok, found it > Lorenzo's Music - You Got To Feel It Tonight
That's what you get for trying to jump on a bike with silly sized wheels. When will people learn that 29ers are road bike with thicker tyres
Oh, is there a video for 2:45?
