Laying the cards on the table, admittedly Crankworx can be a bit of a zoo. Lucky for most, The Bearclaw Invitational this year falls the weekend after. Quite a few riders high-tailed it out of Whistler and over to Vancouver Island to spend some quality time at Claw's Compound to decompress over the last few days.
This morning there was some solid practice that went in at Claw's place with people going off of the mulch jump, and through the jump line, There also some sort of pond jump belly flop contest, which had a solid makeshift trophy.
But, as life goes things ramp back up... Or at least you would hope so.
Now that we're nearing the weekend, things are winding back up quickly and today was a major change of pace from the previous scene. Everybody today moved into full contest mode, and started training and prepping for tomorrow's events, and Saturday's Finals. After all the fun went down, all the riders made their move from the palatial Clawpound that Darren calls home and up onto the mountain. Practice and final course preparation went into full swing, and there was a sparsity of lawn-chairs which kept everybody on their feet.
The course has had a bit of a refresh this year as well, with the addition of a hip, the removal of a jump up top in addition to a hitching post line.
From here people bounced fairly rapidly once the light was gone and a riders meeting went down, the most important part of the meeting was Jordie Lunn having a birthday...
Stay tuned this weekend for all Bearclaw Invitational Coverage.
