You've not felt the pain of spending money on gas until you've lived in the UK. and I love this part of the year with all the awesome bike shows and what not...

I wish there was more local support here. I didn't see Dunbar Cycles Cove or Steeds. The LBS should be there showing off their New line ups, selling their swag and giving the people with passion deals. The DH and AM scene was weak the past 2 years.

It's tough for a lot of shops to be at shows like this and some of them choose to support the scene is many other ways. To see more shops it has to be something affordable and uniform for them to participate in. This is our second year back after a 6 year hiatus and we're hoping to see more join back in the coming years too.

Why doesn't Calgary get any bike shows!!
  • 2 0
Honestly I think most places SHOULD have bike shows. It gets the public out and they get to see what REAL cycling is about. No matter if it's just recreational riding, it still get it in peoples minds that riding a bike CAN be fun. It happens all the time at my shop that people come in looking for a bike cause there tired of there heavy Can-Trash bike. They get on a proper hybrid and WOW! they come back smiling and telling me how much they love riding now. Days like that really make me feel good.

Great question and here is the answer. Calgary does not have a show because no one in Calgary organises one. A lot of time a planning is needed to make one happen, if you want a show start planning.

well there's the outdoor show coming up on march 22-23/13 i believe with some bicycle
retailers will be there.....i know i know its not the same as a TRUE bike show.

calgary is getting big enough of a city and i think the interest is there to have a full on bike show ...... maybe i will start to organize one for next year !! someone has to start it !!!!

A looooong time ago, these shows were fun. Build a hard core obstacle course for testing bikes!!!!! There used to be.Just sayin.

There was an obstacle course for testing bikes? If you had fun thats great . Whatever floats your boat i guess.

The show was awesome today. If you go there needing any information about anything bike related , everyone that is there knows what they're talking about and then some. And then if you get sick of mountain biking go check out the real exciting stuff at the golf side.... Ah...
Formula brakes. Damn they look good and can't wait to get a set on the bike. If you like bikes and bike ppl ; worth checking out every year.

And i watched the trials guys for bout ten mins ; the Old North shore set up was sick but Dangerous Dan lives on the island now so maybe that has something to do with it ?
