2014 Enduro World Series Dates Announced

Aug 31, 2013
by Matt Wragg
With the final round of the inaugural Enduro World Series just around the corner, the Enduro Mountain Bike Association has confirmed its ongoing commitment to unite the world’s enduro mountain bike community with a 2014 line-up that kicks off in the southern hemisphere.

From the high peaks of the southern Andes to the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders, the Enduro World Series’ second year will expand geographically to include two more dynamic enduro mountain bike racing communities – Chile, the only country in Latin America with a recognized Enduro Championship, the five year old MontenBaik Enduro, and the United Kingdom, home of the four year old TweedLove Bike Festival.

Tracy Moseley came to this race looking to find her winning streak but the day didn t start smoothly losing 8 seconds to Anne-Caroline Chausson over the first two stages. On the final stage she lost out to Cecille Ravanel but put nearly 16 seconds into ACC and took the overall lead.

Enduro World Series Managing Director, Chris Ball says, “The Enduro World Series’ 2014 search for the world’s best all around mountain biker will take us all over the world, into varying terrain and spectacularly diverse environments. We’re excited to be able to branch into two new countries in our second year and create a series of races that will cross oceans and hemispheres, and grow the community of global enduro mountain bike riders and fans."

The 2014 Enduro World Series Calendar is:

19 - 20 April - Andes, Chile
30 May - 1 June - Tweedlove Festival, Scotland, UK
21 - 22 June - Valloire, France
13 - 14 July - La Thuille, Italy
26 - 27 July - Colorado Freeride Festival, USA
9 - 10 August - Crankworx Whistler, Canada
4 - 5 October - Finale Ligure, Italy

The first ever World Enduro Champions will be feted at the final race in the 2013 series, in Finale Ligure, Italy, 19-20 October.

While the overall podium today tells you the story of the race the story of the day was rather different. Jerome Clementz smoked everyone by a reasonable margin only his puncture yesterday denied him the victory. Overall he finished a minute behind the winner and SRAM s Jon Chancellier reckons that he lost a minute and twenty seconds to that puncture...

About the Enduro World Series

The Enduro World Series was created in October 2012 with the aim of uniting the world's mountain bike enduro racing community. The Enduro World Series links the largest mountain bike enduro events in the world with the best trails possible and exists to deliver the best racing, most relaxed atmosphere and rider-focused organization possible. The team behind the Enduro World Series has one goal - to globally develop and progress the discipline of enduro for the riders, the sport and the industry. With the shared experience of Italian Super Enduro, French Enduro Series, Crankworx and World Cup racing, the Enduro World Series will offer international competitions unlike any before it.

The Enduro Mountain Bike Association’s (EMBA) Board of Directors is supported by an industry Advisory Board, to reflect and respond to the riding community, that includes Santa Cruz Bicycles’ Rob Roskopp, SRAM’s Jeremiah Boobar, Fox Shox’ Mark Fitzsimmons and riders Tracy Moseley, Jerome Clementz and Curtis Keene.

The guys at Montenbaik have done a great job promoting Enduro in Chile, I'll be nice for the rest of the world to see the huge variety of terrain we have down here.

What, top 10!? Can't wait to see him on top spots of the podium next year!

He came 2nd overall with one round to spare top ten he can only climb one spot in 2014 or go backwards, if he can tone it down and if the EWS would also add points rated like qualifying in DH WC per stage win then add overall points per round win, say 25pts per stage win and an additional points as it is now from winner down to how ever fat back in the field, eg 100 ftw, 90 for second etc etc. If they awarded points per stage would see and even more exciting and more to play for as every stage counts, the pressure would intensify, Im sure the same riders would come out on top, but Jared for example would have been closer to Jerome in the overall points, the women's especially would close up more as thats a massive gulf between Tracey, AC, and the rest right now, they could race tricycles and still win, sorry other girls but they are way ahead hopefully the other girls will train step it up more for 14 season! Chille, Italy, Scotland going to be sick would have been good to go some where else in the USA say Moab or Hood River Oregon maybe for something unique dunno, NZ round 2015 pse EWS!
