First Look: 2015 Troy Lee Designs Ride Collection

Feb 23, 2015
by Troy Lee Designs
Following the release of the new helmets last week, Troy Lee Designs is stoked to announce the newest in all-mountain, gravity and cross-country riding apparel as well as premium protection. Last year TLD came out with complete renovations to nearly every item in the product line and 2015 continues to build on these successful products, with some fine tuning and a some new additions. An increase in offerings for the youth, women and more XC apparel has been added to the range. Here are a few highlights of our largest bicycle collection ever, for more details and info go to troyleedesigns website.

The Skyline collection is Troy Lee Designs' most popular selling riding kit, the world over. The classic all mountain kit has always been our mild kit, but with the addition of the "SPEEDA" shorts you can kick up the vibrance a notch. NEW for 2015, is Youth Skyline, available in 2 color ways of shorts and 2 jerseys. The biggest news in the Skyline lineup is the brand new Women's Skyline Short, we enlisted World Champion and MTB hall of famer Leigh Donovan to help with the fit of this new short. We also added some long sleeve Skyline jerseys for the ladies, combined with new colors and patterns as well.

Ruckus was completely redesigned last season, with an all new fit on the jersey to be a bit more tailored, still using the popular 3/4 cut sleeve, and more breathable poly blend for the long day in the saddle. Same for the Ruckus short, our most full featured trail short that would be the short perfectly slated into the "E" word genre, if we used that word. Some small hidden refinements in construction to the Ruckus short for '15 and it comes standard with the TLD premium inner liner, that is detachable of course, full waist adjusters, zipped front pocket, inner thigh ventilation zip ports, single snap waist enclosure with YKK zipper

• Ruckus jersey: MSRP $52
• Ruckus shorts: w/included liner short: MSRP $135

SPRINT Racewear

Another long standing part of the TLD bike line up, that went through a total redesign in 2014, we rebuilt this kit from the ground up, including a new short and a completely new pant. It was so popular in early testing 2 years ago, we noticed most of our racers getting back into riding and racing in pants, due to the versatility of the pant, lightweight, incredible fit and durability. "I think it's cool to have so many riders getting back into pants, we have even tested these Sprint pants with our motocross team, and it has helped development with our moto line as well, our designers really listened to the athletes, I love wearing these pants" said company founder, Troy Lee. Sprint kit is the default performance kit for the bike park, gravity racing, free riding, BMX and more, with the addition of more youth Sprint, we are looking after you groms too.

2015 Sprint
• Sprint jersey: MSRP $50 ($38 YOUTH)
• Sprint pants: MSRP $125 ($99 YOUTH)
• Sprint shorts: MSRP $95 ($80 YOUTH)
• Sprint gloves: MSRP $34 ($30 YOUTH)

We'd be lying if we said we weren't nervous about last year's launch of the all new ACE collection, only because it was a bit of a departure for what TLD is known for. Those nerves certainly settled once the performance XC kit started making its way into dealers and onto customers. It won numerous gear shoot-outs and awards and quickly became a favourite for a new type of rider. For 2015 we continued with the new fit and construction of ACE, but we have added an extensive collection of lycra base layers to accompany the outer layers and are continuing to develop and test more pieces in this category.

2015 ACE
• Ace jersey: MSRP $68
• Ace shorts w/included liner short: MSRP $165
• Ace bib short: MSRP $110

Ace base layers
• Ace arm warmer: MSRP $34

3 jackets have been introduced into the line, to suit all needs. From the lightweight and packable Ruckus jacket, that comes with a built in hood for the really horrible days, to the thicker, warmer commuter hybrid Transit jacket, to the super light windbreaker of Ace.

New line of TLD Jackets RUCKUS TRANSIT and ACE Windbreakers in Rocket red and black.
• Ruckus jacket: MSRP $155
• Transit jacket: MSRP $198
• Ace windbreaker: MSRP $75

TLD 'Wheels' Collection

What is "Wheels"? It is our casual ride gear. Probably in between an E-bike and Endur-bro rider category...It's a casual fit similar to board shorts and a tee, but more technical construction, that can take some riding abuse. Super comfortable riding apparel with a TLD sportswear twist.

TLD Wheels Network Jersey and Connect Short
Connect shorts: MSRP $65
Network jersey: MSRP $38

Aaron Gwin, when he is not training, he is training...but for the easy ride, just throw on some Wheels!

The TLD protection line has undergone a major overhaul, with five all new models being unveiled for this season, including the TBone-II, a long awaited revision of TLD's first MTB specific knee guard. This will be very popular for the “E-word” riding, since it's rugged enough to take a digger on the trail, light enough to throw in your pack and adjustable enough to fit any sized leg with the adjustable straps.

Semenuk: Long time TLD rider and 2x FMB World Tour Champion, Brandon Semenuk has wanted TLD to make an aggressive pad for dirt jumping, shuttle runs and freeriding for years, and Troy Lee Designs finally answered his requests and spent the last year developing this new pad. A CE certified impact cup is encased by a very subtle Semenuk themed (pics of his Mustang, newspaper headlines, etc) abrasion resistant liner. They work great under pants - the guys have been racing and riding this guard with the new Sprint pants all winter and loving it

The Method is an all-new take on the 2-part knee guard system TLD has offered in the past. A polyester mesh knee gasket that can be worn by itself on an easy ride, but throw on the bomb proof plastic shield, made of honeycomb polyethylene plastic and is CE certified.

Panic: Another completely new knee guard for 2015, this one is a 5-strap application and is a longer knee guard with great shin and knee protection, pre-curved guard for a fantastic fit, also CE certified.

E-Lite elbow. Another completely new guard, this one is a ergonomically designed ultra thin slip on elbow guard, using a lycra sleeve with a co-polymer pad exterior that also has memory foam to protect your elbows in a crash, or grazing a tree.

Definitely getting laid with those multi colored chetah print skyline shorts
  • 68 1
Welp.. There's not much difference when you think about it anyway. Spend a day mountain biking or a day with Louie Spence - the end result is a sore butt and brown stains on your clothes either way.

Right, I've finally snapped..... TLD you're losing it big time. I can understand the need for your sponsored athletes to stand out on the course but I personally do not wish to look like a superhero or power ranger. I want comfortable and well made clothing that works for riding but doesn't make me look like a twat. I'll stick to my shorts and t shirt and save myself a fortune a long the way cheers.
  • 13 3
Addition- The Network Jersey is not a fecking jersey- it's a $38 tight fit T shirt.

100% polyester fabric provides moisture wicking performance properties.
Short sleeve casual inspired MTB jersey.

  • 11 2

I have the network jersey and its awesome. It's hot as f*ck in Cali during the summer so it's awesome for wearing on hot days, awesome for working out in, not a loud ass color if that's not your style, and you can ride in it. It has a side pocket if needed. They run a size small so get next size up if you don't want to look cock diesel. After I bought one I ordered a a couple others because of the quality of material, fit and functionality. Just saying don't judge until you have seen the product first hand.

Also, TLD is making a trend not following it. Having said that, some of the color and print ( leopard)is too polarizing for my taste too.
  • 8 2
 But just so we're LOOKS like a $40 T-shirt.
  • 2 2
@biker245- that makes it worse in my eyes. Polyester is cheap as chips! It's much cheaper than cotton so why are we being asked to pay $38 for a top that probably cost about 10 cents to make?
  • 1 0
Kits row. If you pay TLD money, then you can swing them. To bad we can't get that sick ION gear PB teased us with last week here in NA.
  • 2 0
Well if we look at the COGS on anything we buy garment wise we are getting ripped off. Cotton sucks to ride and work out in. But in terms of what they are trying to accomplish they are on par price wise with Nike dry fit, Under Armour, and Oakley. Riding on a hot day I would rather have their skyline jersey. If you aren't wanting to commit to the style or color schemes on the skyline apparel, I think you would be happy with the Network line. Just sayin.
  • 1 1

  • 1 0
Deville- how are they for ocasionaly wearing around. Like are they functional as a shirt to? And have you tried the shorts
  • 3 0
At least they finally made plain black Ruckus shorts. Because of that - I shall buy them. Smile
  • 4 0
You guys have never seen a tshirt outside walmart?
  • 2 0
Network jersey is 65% poly, 35% cotton per the TLD website. It's like a "tech-T" i guess. Look kinda low-key...may give one a try.
  • 2 0
 More like kits-blow
  • 48 5
you have to be joking me with those leopard print shorts
  • 8 5
 looks like a 'Mexican Camo'
  • 23 2
Those shorts look designed for either whores , or the blind , or maybe blind whores , if any of my mates rode in animal print clothes they would get ripped apart.
  • 14 1
Cheetah, or Speeda as we call it, is on ONE men's skyline short, one women's and one of the youth color ways. You guys are talking as if the whole line is, encompassing about 5% of the lines colors and patterns.
  • 8 1
I would buy and wear the leopard print shorts If available at my LBS, not blind nor a whore. MTB is about chilling out not worrying about other people think, or getting ''ripped apart''. another company had hawling wolves with moon designs on their jerseys, i liked those too
  • 2 1
Didn't Ratboy wear some cheetah print fox shorts at some races last year?
  • 1 1
If you check out the pics on their website, you can see that the new D3's (labeled speeda also) have the same leopard print. The press release pics that were here on PB did'nt show those sections of the helmet.
  • 5 0
I kind of like it , actually.
  • 1 0
@troyleedesigns I wish TLD would put out reissues of some older gear designs like the shocker for instance. Because that gear is really sick. At least you guys should keep the designs in production for more than one year.
  • 1 0
@troyleedesigns don't get me wrong I thought it was a cool funny name for the kit color! MEXCAMO I like it.. is truly badass.. you just need to be a rockstar on wheels to rock it!

  • 2 0
As well on the Moto shorts, I miss that rear pocket it was perfect for carrying my knife
  • 12 0
Thanks TLD for thinking about women in your lineup. I am going to start a company and make a bunch of super awesome clothing for women, and make like one jersey for men, and it will have a bunch of generic guy stuff... lightning bolts, wolves howling at the moon, and explosions. And it will look garish. Sombrio has the right idea when it comes to women's riding clothing. Yes, they still think pink is a lady color, but at least there is a decent selection.
  • 15 0
a jersey with wolves howling at the moon and explosions on it! give it to me! would buy it in a second
  • 1 0
 I need this Jersey...
  • 10 0
Massive improvement from the 2014 Sprint line! I went to Fox because it was impossible to get a decent looking kit from TLD.
Comfort and durability is obviously the most important - but at $145 (~$220 in the EU) for a jersey and shorts it better make me look at least 5 sec. faster!
  • 18 1
Dude, you went to Fox?! They have the worst quality control on the market. My 3yo could stitch better.
  • 8 0
I hate to tell the truth but the Fox stitching is absolutely horrible. I still love their apparel designs though.
  • 4 0
I was one of the people that knocked ION for going into the riding market as they're a surfing brand.... but.... in hindsight I can see why. The current choice riding clothing is overpriced, ugly and poorly made. I welcome another brand if their intentions are to do things properly.
  • 1 2
As far as I'm concerned, shorts are shorts. If I want a harder wearing pair for DH or the like, its jean shorts ftw. My usual riding shorts are Quiksilver, Rip Curl and Volcom. Each pair probably cost me $40-60nzd. Just because they are called board shorts, doesn't mean you have to surf in them.
  • 8 0
I am pretty dissappointet in the new collection..the TLD font on the ruckus line looks pretty cheap.
The sprint gear looks okay at first glance, but what is it with the super glossy black?? Looks almost slimey, like satin or something :/

I don't get why the moto collection, especially the SE stuff, seems to be 10 times better looks and quality wise.

The wheels shorts are getting there.....That is, toned down-semi fit, doesn't scream I'm a dh/enduro/xc racer!
Kitsbow, giro, acre,...shoot, I'm wearing $10-15 Reebok stuff from marshalls, semi fit normal shirts.
The 'enduro-bro' actually wears brighter kits so I'd say the wheelie line description is misplaced.
  • 6 0

$24 for a pair of socks are you joking!
  • 10 1
Yeah, but they're TLD socks, bro.
  • 2 0
Just read all the comments, didn't let me down, but a lot of these people forgot to notice all the boring, muted plain colors in their line it seems? All the attention on the loud colors. I guess that's TLDs difference and mission accomplished at that.
  • 2 0
We all complain about mtb prices, but bikes are make out of space-age materials with complex, lightweight moving parts. Clothes, on the other-hand, have like a 90% markup. How TLD can charge $135 for a pair of shorts and still sell them is beyond me.
  • 1 0
really, well check this out then :
  • 5 3
right that's it you really fucked up this time tld, you've been going to the dogs for past two or three seasons this shit is hideous ,reign it in for fuck sake and employ some new designers ,ive been a troy lee advocate for donkeys years and recently every time you bring a new line out im seriously let down ,fuck this shit! maybe its me ,maybe Im not in touch with my look like a cunt and spend loads to do it side, getta a grip ,heavens to murgatroid ,.I live in hope until next year.

wow, well If I'm the marketing guy or designer at TroyLee, Id be crying right about now... TroyLee, good function, outdated some margin, nobody wants this crap and yet it gets worst every year... I just dont get it
  • 4 2
Why isn't Team Robot on the Elite Roster? Dude has better results than at least a couple of those enduro racers, loves and promotesTLD like its his child, and gets way more attention.
  • 6 1
TLD's gaydar is off the charts this year!
  • 1 0
To be fair on the women's side... I also think the cheetah print shorts are ridiculously hideous, but they DO offer other non-animal color ways for women to choose from. At least TLD is making a legitimate offering for women. It's not just one short one jersey. There are multiple offerings in several categories. Gotta get momentum somewhere and the fact that they're continuing their ladies offerings is great. Thanks, TLD. Just... that animal stuff. Ick.
  • 1 0
I like TLD stuff and wear it. Coming from moto, I get tired of people always crying about loud designs for MTB clothing.

But, at the same time, seeing some of these designs makes me wonder if TLD studies their demographic. I can't imagine some of those A1 helmets and leopard print crap will sell. At all. Ever.

I dig some of it - the Drone A1 helmets look great and some of the jersey designs are good. And to comment on that Network Jersey - they're nice; I have one and wear it all the time.
  • 1 0
Edit: I just believe some of the louder designs will not be great sellers because by-enlarge, the mtb community is very conservative. A lot of the new '15 stuff looks excellent - the race-look is really good. Galaxy helmets and leopard print, maybe not so much.
  • 1 0
digging the wheels collection, very cool and a direction mtb should go more, well done TLD, always a Ruckus fan but the TLD logos way way tooo BIG for my liking, leave that shit for the race PJs! and those leopard print shorts ate just butt hurting ugly said it before, def dont do it for me, looks like a stripper turned biker on night off, most here prob into that, haha, just terrible, everyone to theyre own I guess, for me, leave them for the cougars and milfs and sailors for Friday and Saturday nights, keep it simple never appliped moar imo and I aint no square!
  • 1 0
Super cool stuff... But where's the women's gear? They had some sick stuff last year, but did I miss it in this article? Are they not releasing a women's collection this year? I see it's mentioned with pricing, but no photos?
  • 1 1
Head to TLD website, this article was just a preview/highlight. The top items in this sort are the new women's pieces
  • 2 0
TLD should take a real good look at what fox is producing and get with the program, It's 2015 people and that's the best you can do . Everything needs to go ,gear and helmets. Oh I did see one pair of gloves I would buy.
  • 1 0
Has TLD lost their minds? They used to have very nice subtle and clean attire, but now they have some UGLY looking gear. It seems like they only nice outfits would be the " WHEELS" ...

TLD please go back to subtle and clean...
  • 3 0
Although it hurts every time the wallet comes out, I have loved every single bit of TLD kit I've owned so far.
  • 1 0
I bought a pair of skyline shorts a few years ago and I have never hated a pair of shirts so much - I sold them after wearing then twice. All the other stuff I've got is ok. I've got some Moto shorts that are above average but I'm just not a fan. This stuff is a backwards step in styling in my opinion too, they'll still sell heaps in sure
  • 2 2
Loving this years TLD kit, good to see the Ace jersey / shorts back, mine are still going strong despite being used pretty much all season. Nice to see its looking more like MTB kit, and less like MX cast offs.
Despite the haters I quite like the cheetah print shorts, gotta be quick and go big tho if you're going to pull it off!
  • 4 0
Stay calm and make the logo bigger.
  • 2 2
@troyleedesigns - I am a huge fan of yours, particularly helmets and gloves (with a bit of stop 2007-2009 when you went off the edge right into a pit with pyjama patterns and colours, but well you guys are artists so why not have a go at whatever!) and I have a question in the glove department. I freaking love the fit, feel and material on SE gloves. These are the best gloves I ever tried. They last long, their thickness is perfect for all year round where I ride (save warmest days, which means 30C, that is twice a year), I can use them even under +5C. Do any of your other gloves have such "thick" material?
  • 1 0
Oakley stopped making mtb gear so I switched to TLD (which is not that well made btw, but I always liked Troy's designs) and now this. I don't like almost anything from this collection (maybe except blue Ace shorts).

I cant help but think that a whole lot of people (including TLD) need to learn the difference between cheetahs and leopards.
  • 1 2
Love TLD gear, looks and functions spot on. Great to see some Ace shorts in blue and red this year, they are the best mtb shorts i've had. The leopard prints are rad! Cool to see something that stands out from the crowd and not the usual bland mtb colour schemes. Nice work TLD

Terrible logo, loud/obnoxious designs...

2015's gear is a little less so, but I still wouldn't wear it.
