2016 French Enduro Series Round 4 - Les Orres: Day 3

by Ben Winder

It’s race day number two here in Les Orres for the fourth round of the French Enduro Series. We woke up Sunday morning to perfect blue skies and the sun pounding down upon us. Excitement was thick in the air with a brand new track awaiting the riders, all of whom were eager to hit the mountain. Riders headed up first thing for one scouting lap, then into three race runs of the same track.

Ludovic Oget had a pretty healthy lead, but disaster struck for him at the top of the last stage he got a flat but raced down on the rim - he was out of contention for the win, but still came in 7th place. Irenee Menjou took the win, which was also his first ever podium as well! A storm was forecasted to roll in and upset proceedings, but thankfully it managed to hold off and we had a pretty much dry race...

The shot where they're pushing upwards... the inclination doesn't look that bad, is it the angle or downhillers can't pedal uphill?

Call me ignorant or naïve - I've never raced an enduro - but isn't the point of enduro about not using a lift and pedal the damn bike to the next timed section ?
