For first time ever, France has its own National Enduro Championship. For the country considered to be the father of enduro not having a national championship seemed weird. And what better place than Val d'Allos to organize it, where the well-known "Tribe 10.000" used to take place, considered to be the origin of enduro racing in France. Nowadays, the race continues to exist but within the French Enduro Series. This race is the 2nd one in the series, after Raon l'Etape some weeks ago.
Perfect weather awaits the riders, sun shines and terrain has the perfect grip. Some late rains the days before left some puddle, but nothing to worry about. Plenty of water running on each and every creek of the valley, ready to refill the thirsty riders. As it is common on the French enduro series, this race is completely different to the previous one. On Val d'Allos riders will have 2 days with 2 timed sections and link stages on ski lifts. For each stage there is a not timed run so riders can check the stage, without stopping, they must do it on one go. On Saturday a grueling stage awaits, about 7km, with some physical sections with lot of pedaling involved. For this section, riders will have one practice run and one timed run. For the second stage, shorter but steeper, one practice run and two timed runs. All sum up and you will have your winners.
Race maps for the weekend
With 314 riders on the race, is going to be a couple of long days on the mountains. Starting from 8:15 in the morning until last ones get the start at around 17:45 in the afternoon. Known riders as Thomas Lapeyrie, Nico Quere, Alexander Cure, Cedric Ravanel, Morgane Jonnier, Laura Charles and Julie Duvert will be fighting for the top places. It is a pity that due to other compromises riders as Damien Oton, Youn Deniaud or Adrien Dailly due to a late elbow injury, can't be present, but each team has its own schedule to meet. There will not be an eMTB race on Val d'Allos, next stop for them after Raon l'Etape will be in Val d'Isere
