bigquotesMuddy would be an understatement to describe the World Champs track in Leogang. Riders could only hold on for dear life and hope to get down the hill in one piece. Not only was it Noga Korem's first World Champs, but it was the first time Israel had a female racer in the event and she made sure to make her country proud. Noga put it all on the line and cracked the top 10, landing herself in 8th place! It was also the first World Champs for Junior, Ethan Craik, who battled his way through the brutal conditions into 11th on the day. This was Wyn Masters' 11th World Champs of his career and the toughest one yet. Wyn would hold on for 39th and happy to finish the day with no major issues. It was definitely a World Championships for the books!

bigquotesOisin O’Callaghan became not only the team’s first World Champion, but Ireland’s too, when he dominated the Junior Downhill finals yesterday. Team mate David Trummer took home Silver in Elite Men’s, the best result ever by an Austrian man in downhill mountain bike racing, in what was an extremely tough afternoon for the world’s best

bigquotesThe Canyon CLLCTV Factory Downhill team reflect on what was one of the wildest and wettest race days and world champs that we've seen in quite some time!

bigquotesThis year's World Championships were up to the 2020 standard: a carnage! There were insanely deep ruts, heavy and sticky mud, slippery roots and some big crashes. Our riders pushed their limits and are glad it's now over.

bigquotesTake a look behind the scenes of the Downhill UCI World Champs Leogang 2020. GAMUX FACTORY RACING takes you along the journey and on one of the most difficult tracks we ever raced on. The conditions where very difficult and unfortunately luck was not on our side. After a promising top part, the brutal wood section claimed another victim. Unfortunately, @andreas_kolb66 fell into the peanut butter face first. Still, we are proud of Andy for an almost perfectly executed weekend!

We know the pace is there! On to Worldcup Maribor next week.

"David Trummer took home Silver in Elite Men’s, the best result ever by an Austrian man in downhill mountain bike racing"

This is amazing given that we pour basically infinite amount of money into alpine skiing. Downhill skiing is the most prestigious discipline and dh Skiers are stars in Austria and still get recognized on the street today even tough the sport is declining. You would think that they'd be all over MTB in the western part of the country to fill the mountain theme parks in the summer.

If its not skiing or football it doesn't exist in Austria ...

@elyari: Jr worlds is only for 17 and 18 year olds. This year its only those born in 2002 or 2003.

@dmock157: That's the age requirements nowadays, but a while back 16 year olds were allowed to compete too. Hill actually came 3rd in 2001 at age sixteen, the gold medal that year went to another aussie Ben Cory. Sam then won junior worlds in 2002 and 2003 at ages 17 and 18.

As far as other guys aged 17 to win junior worlds... Troy did it in 2010 and then backed it up in 2011 (and also got an elite world cup podium that year as in those days the juniors raced with the elites at world cups)!
