FIRST LOOK
2022 YT Capra
MX & 29
The Launch Edition will be limited to 100 units and features a no-holds-barred spec.

YT Industries release the all-new Capra today, which sees a whole raft of changes for the new MKIII model. You may well recognise a similar shape, as well as brand-identifying features such as the distinctive head tube, but it’s an all new bike. YT compares the Porsche 911 to the Capra, suggesting that both models occupy a similar space in each brand's line up. And, much like the 911, the Capra does have a recognisable look and shape that carries on through each iteration.

Capra, which means “goat” in Latin, is the brand’s do-it-all enduro bike. YT have tried to not only enhance its capabilities but also give riders the choice between two bikes. There is the full 29” and the mixed-wheeled MX platform. YT suggests that the 29 is the bona fide race bike with an emphasis on speed whereas the MX combines the stability of the larger wheel with the maneuverability of the 27.5 in the rear.

Frame, Geometry and Kinematics

There will be two options in regards to the material used in the frame: the ultra modulus and the high modulus frames. The materials share many of the same properties and will provide a very similar feeling, however, the ultra modulus frames will be around 300g lighter. There will be three build specs in the Capra range. The Core 3, Core 4 and the Launch Edition MX. The ultra modulus frames will be the Core 4 and limited edition release model. The Core 3 bike will use the high modulus carbon.

photo
The bike does get longer than its predecessor but not dramatically so.

photo

Both versions undergo increased reach compared to the previous version, as well as steeper seat tubes and slacker head angles. You may also see the addition of a bottle cage to these bikes. To enable this, the bike has to use a single sided wing. All bikes come with the bottle cage as stock. The bikes also undergo a complete reworking in regards to stiffness and flex. The lower parts of the bike, particularly around the downtube and BB junction, have been reinforced to give a lower centre of gravity as well as a stiffer platform.

The bikes have the same headtube design as the Izzo. You can see the box section, which not only allows for clean cable intakes but also is there to generate more stiffness in the headtube area. The internal cable routing is rattle-free and there is also new chainstay protection that aims to keep the bike quiet whilst maximising heel clearance.

The bike uses a flip chip to offer 0.3 degrees of adjustment and a SRAM universal hanger to allow for convenience should something go awry.

The two bikes share the same front triangle, but have different yokes and rear ends to not only allow for different wheel sizes but also to change length and suspension kinematics. The 29” Capra has 5mm longer chainstays as well as slightly less progression to suit air shocks whereas the MX is more progressive and will pair well with a coil shock.

Here we can see the comparative differences between the 29 and the MX, as well as their respective MKII models. Whereas the MX largely echos the curve of its predecessor, albeit at a higher leverage rate, the 29 platform has less progression than before, which should make it easier to make the most of its travel without running into any harshness in the mid- and end-stroke.

photo
photo

Around sag both bikes have anti squat-values above 100% but only just. In theory a value of 100% should mean that the suspension neither extends nor compresses under acceleration, but it's more complicated than that. For comparison's sake, you can see the the MX platform has a drastically higher value that the MKII 27.5 Capra.

Capra 29

The Core 4 is available in Nox Blue or Black Magic for $5,999 USD.

In YT's own words, this bike is their "fast" bike and summarises the 29" platform as "60% for downhill and 40% for uphill". The bike, much like the MX, is available in two main build kits: the Core 3 and the Core 4. The Core 4, pictured is the higher-spec and includes Fox Factory suspension, SRAM XO drivetrain, Code RSC brakes and Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro Alloy I9 wheels.

The bike, in its slacker setting, uses a 64.2 degree head angle and a 77.6 degree seat tube angle. The 29" bike uses 5mm longer chainstays and is 3mm longer in terms of reach. The leverage ratio of the shock is also more linear compared to the MX.

The Core 3 is available in Deep Yellow, Lava Red or Black Magic. The MX build kits are the same as their larger wheeled counterparts.

The Core 3, pictured, is the entry level spec and includes Fox Performance suspension, SRAM GX drivetrain, Code R brakes and Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro Alloy wheels.

Capra MX

photo
The $7,999 USD Launch Edition MX.

The MX is their "shred" bike that places a further emphasis on downhill performance. YT say it's more of a 70% - 30% split. Apart from the launch edition which is only available in the MX, the bike is available in the same build kits as the 29".

The MX uses a more progressive leverage rate to make it well suited to coil shocks. It's 0.2 degrees slacker in the head angle but shares a very similar effective seat tube angle as the 29". It also benefits from 0.3 degrees of adjustment via a flip chip.
Capra MX Details
• Wheelsize: 29/27.5"
• Travel F / R: 170 / 170mm
• Ultra or High Modulous frame
• Head angle: 64° / 64.3°
• Sizes: S / M / L / XL/ XXL

• Reach: 424 / 444 / 464 / 484 / 504mm
• Base price: €4,499.00 / £3,999.00 / $4,499.00

The Lauch Edition build kit includes a RockShox ZEB Ultimate, Cane Creek DB Kitsuma, SRAM X01 Eagle expansion drivetrain, SRAM Code RSC brakes, Cane Creek eeWing titanium cranks, a Renthal cockpit set-up and Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro Carbon wheels. This build kit is only available in the MX, and is priced at $7,999 USD.

The paintwork is inspired by the "Goatman". The canon of this character, and what seems to be an interwoven approach between a comic book story and a bicycle is all a bit bewildering to me but maybe it's your bag. Think of him like Tony the Tiger or Colonel Sanders.

New Pre-Order System and Availability

YT also introduces a new way to pre-order bikes as part of the Capra launch. Customers who wish to pre-order a bike with an availability lead time longer than 8 weeks will be asked to pay a 10% fully-refundable deposit to reserve their bike, with the balance being charged four weeks before the bike ships. This deposit ensures the reservation of a bike and orders can be canceled at any time with full refund. YT expects to start shipping the first Capras in late 2021 with production volumes ramping up significantly in early 2022.

Is it just me or are the direct brands not quite the same deal they used to be? Don't get me wrong, they are still cheaper, but unless you know a company has top notch warranty support (which I have heard YT doesn't), the calculation becomes a bit harder when choosing between a direct and shop supported bike brand.

The Capra MX seams like an amazing deal to me ! Carbon frame and high end components, I wouldn't mind about the bad warranty for this price
  • 248 2
 @BunnyR10: until you need it.
  • 28 5
seems like you do not look at Radon Wink
  • 17 2
@BunnyR10: dunno, last time I checked yt competed with radon and canyon. But the only company left with good value seems to be radon.
  • 53 1
@BunnyR10: Don't get me wrong, they are still a bit better deal than other brands, but not unbelievably so. The Specialized Stumpy Evo is $5k and comes with X01/GX and Performance Elite parts, so pretty similar to the Core 3 build. Not that much more bike for the YT (especially when you consider shipping costs). Plus, I can't just go down the street and talk to the shop when something is f'ed up on the YT.
  • 17 4
Where I miss the direct brand point is that you pay in May for January delivery, I could run a bikeshop or just walk into one and order next season bike now for wholesale price.

@kinematix: bad warranty does not mean no warranty. I have no idea of what their policy is, but I would think it is at least acceptable. But yeah I would go to the church before buying one haha
  • 23 0
@HB208: Unless you're from EU and all NA bikes are 20% more, like Stumpy Evo at 6k eur.
  • 9 0
@flickr: That's fair, I can just speak from the US perspective.
  • 26 0
@BunnyR10: The Launch MX has eewing Ti crank, those are $1000 alone
  • 19 7
@HB208: Dunno where you looked, but on Spe's website, the 5k$ stump evo is equipped with GX/NX eagle and Code RS brakes, house branded wheels and lower end Fox suspension so a real step down from the Capra with the most high end from rockshox, Sram for the brakes and better wheels and drivetrain
  • 23 1
@BunnyR10: F me. They just updated the models and are now charging $1k more for the build I was speaking of.
  • 8 1
@kinematix: no, you just need to have two of them! then when one is in for warranty work, you ride the other one for 4 months while it's sorted!
  • 3 2
Looks at that mx$! Cb wheels; ti cranks...come on man
  • 2 0
@BunnyR10: hmmm i'd be miffed if the bike was let down by the quality of the warranty....it's a return on investment....
  • 7 1
@jrocksdh: its a sweet build but its also 7500€. The article is a bit misleading in showing the "Launch Edition" spec with the "Base" price next to it.
  • 7 0
Prices have definitely gone up quite a bit over the years and more than general inflation. The original Capra Pro was under £3k delivered.

I think the big problem with this year is that it’s a sellers market with every bike being sold out at any price. I expect that these prices will come down in 2022, but who knows.

The MX bike looks pretty good though I reckon. Just need to be robbing banks or scraping teeth!
  • 17 1
I guess most of you don't realize that $ 4,499 isn't the price of the Launch-Edition. That's for the Core 3. The Launch Edition sells for 7,999.
  • 10 1
Just so it's clear Launch Edition is $7,999USD, not $4,499 that is the core level with different parts.
  • 25 2
No, they're not, the base model Capra is now exactly (to the penny) the same price as the original top model Capra. It's within £500 of the base level Megatower, which is not a favourable comparison for YT when it comes to service and warranty.
  • 3 0
@GregSpecialized: Can you get Radon in the U.S?
  • 4 0
@HB208 there’s a global frame and component shortage, everything is more expensive now and will only get worse
  • 7 0
@HB208: While the Stumpy Evo Expert was $5k at launch last year, just yesterday Spesh updated the colors and spec on the Stumpy lineup, and that $5k expert build is now a $6k build. It’s a steep jump.
  • 8 0
@BrambleLee: Yeah, not only are the colors worse, but it just got way more expensive. I am wondering if this stuff will chill out after the pandemic. I hope so.
  • 8 0
How's about Propain and Nukeproof? They seem like good value.
  • 2 0
Lots of things start out that way.. but in the end they just have to be cheaper than the competition.
  • 3 0
I don't think there is that much of an arbitrage anymore for DTC brands. Don't get me wrong there is some but its no 40% of retail like I think people are expecting.

Online "rents" have risen significantly and to provide the level of service for performance level bikes commiserate with the price/market experience there is a lot of infrastructure that you need to provide that more traditional brands share with their distributors/bike shops - hence the markup for the shops.

Additionally, for most brands in the performance area the average price of bikes they sell are $6,000-$8,000 (Yeti, for example, is $7,800). The cohort that pays this much for a bike is made up of largely people who are fine paying for convenience (i.e. support of a shop).
  • 11 0
@BrambleLee: the Evo Expert was originally $4.6K > $4.8K > $5K > 2022 $6K. There were three price changes last year. The bikes all sold as soon as they hit the ground so Specialized did not price themselves out of the market.

For the 2022 bike there were some good upgrades though. Specifically an XO1 cassette and a few other items. It did not add up to $1K though. To be fair the bike was a good deal even at $5K for an XO1 setup on a full carbon frame.

Back to the Capra pricing, $8K is a decent deal for this build. Unfortunately the Reach is really short and the warranty issues are well documented. Not worth saving 15% and then having to deal with a lousy warranty if something happens.
  • 9 0
I'd prefer no 22:40 min Hollywood promo advertising video, if the bikes were in stock and less expensive. Lol.
  • 14 1
I take back everything I said, I was fooled by the Pinkbike article. The specs are actually quite bad for the price, I remember in 2018 when the Capra AL base was 2200€, now you get the same components, but with a carbon frame, and it is somehow 2000€ more expensive ! So yeah YT is not such a great deal anymore, I will keep my Meta 29.
  • 3 0
@BunnyR10: I'd 100% consider a Meta AM as my bike park and shuttle bike. I already have a Transition Spur as my trail/XC bike.
  • 4 0
 @HB208:

Yeah some of these increases have been pretty steep. I'm super curious whose going to roll back pricing if supply chain and shipping issues get sorted out (maybe (?) a year from now) or if these hikes are going to be permanent. The Spesh hike was pretty big. Ripmo carbon frame jumped 17% from $3k to $3.5k.
  • 7 0
Yea my capra was a scorching deal, and was the izzo pro race I bought. You couldn’t build a bike for those prices out of second hand parts!

Now, £5k (plus brexit rip off tax) for the mid range one, yea its cheaper than a santa cruz or a yeti, but its certainly no bargain.

Nukeproof are now a better deal for us silly brits.
  • 3 0
@WasatchEnduro: My feeling is that competition will come back into the market. Right now they can sell everything they produce. Once people get back to doing normal shit instead of buying bikes and the supply chain catches up, I think the market will become competitive again. What I expect is that companies keep current pricing but up all of their builds.
  • 11 0
 @Fix-the-Spade:

However the Megatower comes with a Yari, SD Select, NX drivetrain, Guide RE's & some awful OE SRAM wheelset.

Vs

38 Elite, Float X Elite, GX Eagle, CB wheelset, Codes, etc.

To get close to the spec, the equivalent Megatower is over £6k.
  • 8 0
@pistol2ne: maybe in US and UK. In EU, this year, the prices are minimum 20% higher. Ffs, a factory Giga is 7k euro. for comparison, a factory '19 Mega used to be 5k euro.
  • 3 0
As others have noted in the comments here, the dealer focused brands prices have gone up quite a bit. The Capra maybe isn’t the deal it was, but it’s not bad either.
  • 6 0
Yeah but some direct brands like Propain, Radon and Rose still have great value for money.

You can get Fox Factory stuff on Propains for 4500€ or under and spec it with a cheaper drivetrain.

The other big Direct Brands Like Canyon/ YT became more and more expansive, thats absolutely true.
  • 2 1
@NotNamed: The Canyons are still a decent value in the US. I am looking for a gravel bike and the Grizl is super well priced here.

@HobNob: the Capra specs don't seem to even match up. YT site says Core 3 has "Float X" (?) shock and even if they mean X2, in the picture there's a DPX2. Then this article talks about Performance suspension while YT site says it's Elite.
  • 6 0
@flickr: it is performance elite and it is float x... you know, the X that just been launched a couple of weeks ago.

YT are putting a lot of effort in to improving customer service. Everything used to go through their German HQ no matter where you were in the world (!) Now they are setting up regional hubs to speed things up, so hopefully improvements are being made here.

  • 1 0
@flickr: Float X is an all new shock. PB had an article on here recently about it.
  • 2 1

@eugenux: Damn. Yeah I got a mega RS 290 (STOKED) a month ago for 6k no tax American (live in California so it would have been another 6-700). Brexit really screwed you euros for pricing on stuff out of the UK.
  • 6 5
Still monumentally better value for money than a comparable Specialized, Trek or Giant.
  • 1 0
Direct brands could be taking a bigger slice of the market sales in profits, as well as passing along increased component costs.
  • 5 0
Back in 2015 I got a Capra Pro. Before buying I worked out how much it would cost me to buy all the same parts at best internet price. Basically the (carbon) frame was free as the whole bike was the same as components on their own. Anyone care to do the same for this one (I’m not in the market so no motivation)?
  • 2 0
@HB208: Actually Specialized just increased the price to $6000 for that model.
  • 1 0
@devonportk: Got super lucky being 6' 4 and their xxl being the same size as their xl last year.
  • 1 1
@jhatfie: Yes, look above, I mentioned that.
  • 2 0
@HB208: Yes. And Spesh is typically excellent with warranty stuff.
  • 6 0
@tempmeister: with the components listed on their website, it is about $3,750 for only the components on the Core 3 model, which has an msrp of $4,499. So the frame essentially is $750 instead of free.
  • 3 0
@HB208: they probably read your post, scaring the product manager shitless about pricing nearly equalling 'inferior' direct sales brands. Glad they fixed that mistake quickly!

N American customer service has been good to me. Helped me a few times. Most recently found some pivot axles and bearings for me. Whole process until they were at my door , Cali to BC, was less than 2 weeks. My original pivots didnt have any slop but after a million vert i figure it was time. Im also impressed with the pivot seals/design after that as well

  • 2 0
@undercoverfreak: With the higher UK shipping and 2 extra fees and the new 14% UK import tax the total delivered price for the Launch Edition is 7900 GBP for Uk buyer. The Capra Core 4 final delivered cost is 6000 GBP for UK buyers.

Dude this is so much of a mind state than anything else.
I was first into bikes with my front brake on the left. Then I got into a motorcycle with my front brake on the right (it did feel right at home surprisingly)
I thought I'll change my bike front brake to the right. I did. It felt super odd. I have it almost half a year before changing it back where it felt right a home from the first ride. There's no right or left, I mean wrong
  • 1 0
@jacinto46: Similar here. Started racing BMX at 10, right lever = right brake. I am mid 40's now, still right lever = rear, left lever = front on the bike. I have had several motorcycles, can switch back and forth without issue

the bottle is mounted in factory and can conveniently be used on trails either:
- by removing the shock and drinking from the bottle itself
- through an internally routed straw that exits at the stem

@BunnyR10: please tell me you realize they’re joking…..
  • 33 0
I prefer just opening the bottle nozzle, hoisting the bike over my head upside down, and letting the water dribble into my mouth.
  • 4 0
I drink from my water bottle without removing it from it's cage while I'm in the air launching big canyon gap jumps. Doesn't everyone do this?
  • 2 3
@coadymacmillan: Just making sure. You never know what type of individual you can find on Pinkbike ^^
  • 3 0
@rickybobby18: i hadn't thought of that one! added bonus: makes you look like a beast
  • 2 0
 @BunnyR10: That's the YT Unlocked
  • 1 0
 @rickybobby18:

holy sht this should have been part of the launch video.

make mtb fun again.
  • 2 1
Who needs a water bottle when you can drink out of the vast lakes, rivers, creeks and ponds you will be ascending upon with this goat.
  • 2 0
Business idea: make a shock that uses water as damping fluid (or dampening in this case? Hehe) never need to worry about water bottles again. Probably Cannondale will try it, they had the 2 shock concept already, now just put in a 3rd one filled with water

"Latest delivery March 2022" Knowing YT that will be 6 months later so over a year before delivery. Honestly this company is a joke. Selling bikes they dont have constantly and having the worst customer service. Lied to me about my bike spec and ended up in me wasting money based on their advice. Spent £7k+ and got left to rot. Dont by YT. You'll regret it.
  • 10 5
Just for the other side of the coin, mine was a month later than expected. Awesome service from the YT Mill Uk with any help I’ve needed, and been the best bike I’ve owned Smile
  • 5 1
@GSuperstar: have you had anything go wrong? couldn't even get spare parts of them. 1 year old bike.
  • 14 1
Might start saying to my clients "pay me £4k now and ill design your house next year if I am still trading".
  • 3 1
Sorry you had that experience, but it wasn't mine at all. I bought an Izzo with a 4-week lead time, it shipped in 3 weeks and arrived a week after that. It's been a great bike and the only support interaction I had to have with the US crew was pretty good. Not mind-blowing customer service, but also not the junk people seem to accuse YT of being.
  • 4 1
Lol well in many other cases you'll be waiting a year plus sooooooo. Can't really blame YT for supply chain problems that literally everyone is having, many worse than a 6 month wait.
  • 6 0
Yea not sure why the announced this until it is in stock. Or at least a month or 2 away.
But a year?!?! No thanks.
  • 4 2
I’ve never had an issue with them and have a Tues snd a Capra Shred.

Just sayin’.
  • 3 2
@drmantistobogganmd: I’ve only needed some hangers as spares and got them sent within 4 days of contacting them. Haven’t needed them in an emergency yet, but the bikes also pretty bombproof.

Again only commenting on my experiences so far Smile

Having the YT Mill is hopefully only going to make things better.
  • 3 3
@GSuperstar: well good look when your frame brakes etc
  • 6 2
I think it depends on where you live. i just got my second capra, first one lasted 5 years without one issue. its still fine but I blew up my front fork and needed new frame bearings so I used that as my excuse. New bike came in literally 4 days. I live in Los Angeles though so that may be the reason it got here quick. I know 5 people who have Capras and not one have had any warranty issues so I can't speak on that
  • 4 2
No issues with my Jeffsy or Tues frames. Same for my brothers jeffsy or my buddies jeffsy. The dt swiss axle did break on mine but YT got me a new one free in just a few days. My brothers shock blew but thats an RS problem, YT replaced it free and got it to him quick.
  • 1 0
@drmantistobogganmd: 'if' my frame breaks. Sure Smile
  • 1 1
@KK11: you must ride some crazy stuff to have those two bikes as your stable!
  • 2 0
 @Jibofo: we sure do
  • 2 1
if you want a core 3 in large mullet you will wait until March 23!!! nearly 2 fuckin years
  • 2 0
 @sewer-rat:
I know there is a shortage of components, but after the flak YT get anyway, why would you even bother!!!
  • 2 0
@Richt2000: I won't matey that's for sure - stickin with what I ride now for the next 2 years
  • 4 0
 @sewer-rat:
Real shame. I’ve had 3 YTs over the years and loved every one.

0.3° of adjustment via flip chip. Most people won't feel that, should have made it a whole degree
  • 23 0
Or made the flip chip adjust from 29in rear to mullet. Or provided chainstay length adjust anyway (they're a bit too short IMO).
  • 7 0
@chakaping: This. 100x this. A dedicated mullet link would be way more useful than less than a half degree of geo change.
  • 2 0
I agree. I think that's going to be a change we see in upcoming bikes. Flip the chip a full degree or more could truly turn your enduro bike into a trail bike. Sure there are compromises, but I'd take the compromises and adjustability over a negligible change.
  • 2 0
@chakaping: Ya it's a bummer it's not a single frame. You have to decide upfront if you want a 29 or 27.5 rear and you're stuck with it.
  • 6 0
@chakaping: On the still current 29" Capra the higher position is indeed well suited for a 27.5" rear wheel.
  • 2 0
Or just leave it without. Who uses them anyway, more breaking parts..
  • 2 0
Concur, that's not enough to make enough difference in handling.
  • 1 0
@DavidGuerra: I'm going to try the same thing with my radon swoop 29. If there's any 27in rear wheels left to buy.
  • 3 0
@WY228: i just picked up a Saracen Ariel that is Mullet but comes with the 29er linkage in the box. Great idea.
  • 1 0
@chakaping: Nah, Swoop's tall setting is lower than Capra's low.
  • 1 0
@void: it is a very low bike. Too low in the lowest setting in my opinion. But I've addressed that by fitting a 190mm fork and a slightly oversprung coil shock.
I reckon it might be a go-er.
  • 1 0
@DavidGuerra: Running your frame as a mullet and its amazing. People can easily just buy the new 29er and put a 27 wheel on it if they don't like the mix geometry.
  • 1 0
@Jordmackay: Cool! I was considering doing that with a loaned wheel to try it out.
  • 38 3
Angry former YT customer alert: dont buy anything from these clowns. Zero customer service (hey Ahmed from german helpdesk), bullshit QC(misalligned shock mounts) and shit frame design (2x cracked chainstay). Please YT, do not make bikes that spent more time in e-shop basket or mail than on trail.
  • 11 4
I disagree. But everyone has a different perspective and experiences. Sorry yours sucked bro.
  • 10 1
True, lots of broken chainstays and horrible customer service stories all around.
(Reminds me of 2010-2011 when their Tues 1.0 had tons of issues without breaking chainstays only for YT to drop the design and go for the 2.0 in 2012 while old customers got "reinforced" stays that broke as well...)

They also dont really know what they are actually producing. Some people are getting the replacement chainstays without any drainage/welding holes in the yoke but if you ask the customer service, they claim that there are only versions with holes in them as without them they could not make the chainstays... It seems they have lost all overview of what is going on at this point.

BTW: The ones without holes break as well, dont get your hopes up Frown

loving the paint job on that launch edition. Getting a mark on a brand new bike always sucks, this one is pre-bashed so you don't notice.

Geo seems relatively conservative for a 'big bike' - maybe things are now long and slack enough?
  • 2 0
I like it too, even though I despise the fact that this paint job is analogous to "distressed" jeans, which I hate...

This looks cool, but I'll beat in my own damn blue jeans.
  • 7 0
Those pre skuffed finishes look good when new, ironically they often don't age well. The difference between fake and real wear or something. Like that vw gulf that was released with every body panel a different bright color, looks cool new, 10 years later... people are wondering what junk yard it came from.
  • 5 0
@Lokirides: I believe the current vernacular is "rustic".
  • 7 2
reach is a little down on average, but 64 degrees HA "conservative"?
  • 2 0
@AyJayDoubleyou: on a big enduro bike I think its middle of the road (relatively conservative). My 130mm trail bike has 65deg at stock, and things like the stumpy evo (150mm?) is 63deg.
  • 4 0
@AyJayDoubleyou: I wouldn't say the HA is conservative. There's a lot of bikes coming out in the 64-64.5 range..such as the recent propain spindrift. It seems most Enduro bikes now are in the 63.5-64.5 range.
  • 6 0
Yeah, digging the old school Hutch pink.
  • 3 0
Its like the relic'ed thing with guitars, kinda dumb!
  • 4 0
@TheR: yaaa! Hutch! Man, haven’t heard that in a good long while.
  • 3 1
Yeah, I think we've just about maxed out how long and slack a trail bike can be at this point. Kudos to YT for not just trying to chase the trend to be on the leading edge.
  • 2 5
It's a cool thing, if it's executed well. The chipping is way to smooth tho and lacks depth (I'm able to get more visual depth in 1:35 scale models, why can't they do it on 1:1 scale bikes). Usually, when there is this kind of chipping, there are also other weathering effects present, which would make that bike look really good. I'm personally missing some nice rust streaks.
So to sum it up, cool idea, bad execution.
  • 5 0
@A1990ToyotaHilux: Your expectations are way too high. It’s a mass produced bike, not a hand-painted scale model. I don’t even like YT, but I can give them props for doing something unique here.
  • 4 0
@TheR: It's the first build combo that actually works with the white Cane Creek coil IMO. I don't get hung up on looks, but I've never warmed up to the white coils. However, mixing it with the Hutch pink is pretty rad.
  • 2 0
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I think it looks garbage today and will only get worse with time. The cranks though, wow. They will look exactly the same for 100 years. I wish I could afford some.
  • 2 1
 @A1990ToyotaHilux: Yeah..rust streaks...from all the welds...wait what?
  • 15 1
Pay now, watch other brands kicking out their 2022 line up late summer, then cry till January

YT doesn't stand for "Young Talent" anymore.... now it stands for "You Thought"; as in "You thought our bikes were back in stock."
  • 10 0
7k EUR is quite a lot I find.. everything seems to have gotten so expensive.. 'cheaper' bikes were sold for 3-4k in the past... now everything is above 5-6k.. amazing
  • 5 0
better is that in US they have the same prices but in $.

right in your face right handed european people!
  • 5 0
@Kptzbik: Yeah, I don't get that. Just doing a straight one dollar to one euro conversion makes the bikes like 20-30% more expensive in EU off the bat.
  • 13 0
It has gotten f*cking stupid. Just a few years ago the capra base model was at like 2500€.
  • 1 0
There will be a cheaper aluminium framed-version later, I'd expect.
  • 4 0
@HB208: US prices don't include tax where as the euro prices would have the 15-20% vat included
  • 3 3
@endoplasmicreticulum: in 2014-15, the pro or race model, which one had the kashimas(the white color one with black and yellow side colors), was 4850 or smth.. below 5k. The current kashima model is 6k..so, 1k increase in 6-7 years. When you take inflation and raw material increase in cost.. 1k isn't so bad. I could have been worse... just look at the cost of Nukeproofs here in EU. Suddenly, they are premium bikes, costing as much as Spezs, Yetis and SCs. Now, that's an increase.
  • 3 0
@spicysparkes: Ok, but sales tax is 6% where I live (which is pretty typical in the US). I could drive to Oregon and not pay sales tax.
  • 11 0
@eugenux: 3 years ago the capra base model was something like 2700€. Not cheap, but affordable for a lot of people that really wanted a proper enduro bike and put some efford into saving some money. Now its 4500€. Thats a 67% price increase in 3 years. YT stands for "Young Talents". They used to be a great chioce for young talents. Robust, good geo and good parts for a fair price but that is no longer true. The bike industry is working hard at pricing their future customers and those that make the sport thrive out of the market.
  • 3 3
@endoplasmicreticulum: the 2700 euro model did not have 38 performance elite or float x. I'll give to you the fact that a price of 3999.99 euro would have looked much better.
  • 8 0
@eugenux: Thats not the point. It had a yari which you could upgrade with a 180€ charger damper if you wanted to and an acceptable shock. A super nice 5000€ bike doesnt help all the riders that can "only" afford a 3000€ bike. If bike models of the last few years would be for sale agin, they would be sold out instantly, covid or not and I think that should tell you enough about the current state of affairs regarding pricing. You got more bike for then money 3 or 4 years ago than you do now.
PS: Cube sells a well specd full carbon enduro in a brick and mortar store with fox performance suspension for 3000€.
  • 1 0
Edit: They dont seem to sell it anymore, but it was available like 6 months ago. Now they sell it in aluminum.
  • 1 1
@endoplasmicreticulum: I have a bad opinion about cube bikes so I can't relate to your experience... although.. by the look of it, in a couple of years, cube will be the place in which merida is now.
  • 3 0
@eugenux: 2014 my Tues Pro was 3325€ with best Marz kit available (roughly same level as current kashima stuff) and XO drivetrain/brakes and I think Capras were around the same IIRC.
At 3199€ you still got year ago Capra with Performance Elite Fox kit, Sram GX and carbon frame.
Then came the Shred and suddenly you had to pay for the same bike 3499€ but for more money you lost carbon frame and got aluminium.
Now you pay 4499€ for same spec Capra with bottle cage.
And for reference last year Decoy with same spec was 4999€. Must be a hell of a bottle cage to be worth over 1000€...
  • 2 1
@Siphaeon: I hear you; last year I could buy that gourgeous spez enduro comp for 4k; now, "magically", it is 5k..or even a little more, depending on the shop.

last year I could buy a nuke mega frame for something around 2300-400 USD; now, I paid 3k for nuke giga frame...; and don't get me started on Fox components. I could not be bothered to detune the fox x2 in order to sell it and tune specifically an RS SD ultimate for the Giga(or maybe even a coil) because I hated the fact that for the price of one fork, I could have brought another fork and a shock. FFS, on the lyrik ultimate that I brough last year I paid 550 euros.. discounted price of course but still... 550 vs 1300 euro. There is no way in hell the '38 is 2.5 times a better fork than the lirik ultimate.
  • 11 0

I don't think even pro racers could feel a 0.3 degree head angle adjustment. Why not save weight and cost and not bother with the flip chip? literally nobody even uses them any way, they just put it in whatever setting is slackest and never touch it ever again.
  • 1 0
Will se see after market different length links?
  • 5 0
Overall kinda muted rollout for such a hyped bike release. Usually when YT drops something its such an insane deal that you consider ordering right then and there. Yeti blue and Miata yellow is NOT what I was expecting. Two levels of carbon is NOT what I was expecting. I love both carbon and alloy, but 2 levels of carbon just drives prices up for marginal gains, but hey Santa Cruz pulls it off and maybe that's what YT was going for. Less progression good IMO.
This was on my radar, but not disappointed I pulled the trigger on a Giga (especially because I get to, you know, ride it in 2021). MX was a no brainer, and glad to see it because shorter riders deserve the confidence of a 29er front too! Steeper seat tube angle needed IMO but 78-79 is my ideal number.
  • 6 1
core 3 model seems like the bike to own; performance elite is maximum all of us need from a suspenssion POV. rest of the components can be upgraded. too bad size L is already out of stock. Smile
  • 5 0
It's annoying they chose a DPX2 over a Float X2 for such a progressive bike... haven't we already been through this problem?
  • 1 1
@mnguyen1224: or the new float x
  • 3 0
 Was never in stock.
  • 1 1
@drmantistobogganmd: go to their website and you'll see that L size is unavailable. The box with size L has an X on it.
  • 1 1
@mnguyen1224: I also, mistakenly, thought that it has dpx2.. but, no, it has the float x...which is actually enough for probably 95% of the riders.
  • 1 0
@mnguyen1224: It's comes with the new Float X which theoretically should work better than the DPX2
  • 3 7
flag SnaggleNut (May 18, 2021 at 10:46) (Below Threshold)
The performance elite stuff has no midstroke support. You will be dissapointed. I had the PE Fox 40 and PE float x2 on my 2018 Tues and swapped the PE shock for the factory version as soon as I could afford it. Much better now. I used a voorsprung shim/valve kit on the 40 and that helped a bit.
  • 9 0
@SnaggleNut: lol, you know they have the same internals, the only difference being the Kashima bling factor ?
  • 2 1
@AAAAAHHH: yep, exactly. Maybe @SnaggleNut makes a confusion between performance elite and (just) performance model. maybe?!
  • 3 0
@AAAAAHHH: My 40 came with a Fit4 damper (lsc, rebound) and the latest 40 damper is the Grip 2 (lsc, hsc, lsr, hsr)with VVC which is much different. I could buy a new grip2 damper for 400 and and drop it into the fork to make it a factory fork sans kashima, so that's cool. I don't know what the dampers are called on the float x2, but the performance version only came with low speed comp and rebound. Factory has the high speed settings also. The high speed comp helps with mid stroke support, but I think you are getting a higher quality damper as well. My experience with fox is on a DH bike though. It might not be as much as of a problem on lower speed trails. You have to run higher pressures with the crappy dampers so that the fork/shock isn't diving into it's travel so easily. It'll make you fast, but not comfortable.
  • 2 1
@eugenux: could be Smile I can't keep up with all the new products lately. I would say defintely go for the top end model on your shock since it's supporting more weight than your fork on average and will have a bigger impact on ride quality. Any version fox fork is going to be very smooth though.
  • 3 0
@SnaggleNut: performance elite on 40 and the x2s is not the same as performance elite on the trail bike stuff.
  • 2 2
@SnaggleNut: yes, performance model has only hsc and rebound. performance elite is the same as factory sans the kashima coating.

fir the fit4, I've obtain pretty decent results by puting 3 volume spacers, opening up the LSC a few clicks away from fully open and lowering the PSI a little. This made the fork smooth on the initial part of the travel, resist the dive which most foxes have(curios to check the new '38, to see if it has this trait as well) and have a big-ish ramp-up from 60-70% towards the end of the stroke. Mid-stroke was pretty good as well(I'd crank up the LSC a little for the courses where I needed more support) but it was fine for most of the time.
  • 2 2
@SnaggleNut: sorry, I meant *it has LSC and rebound*.. still sleepy.
  • 5 1
I guess paying extra for them to make the paint job look like my bike after 2 years make about as much sense as my kids paying a premium for new jeans with holes already in them?

Marketing team: Hey we want to release a model that is painted but shows carbon on wear points, you know like the jeans the kids buy with holes already in them

Manufacturing team: WTF, you want us to make a good paint job bad and then add a clear barrier coat? That will cost like +50 per frame, add weight and look liek shit. Are you nuts...

Marketing Team: Glad you understood right off the bat, last time it took us a few exchanges for you to understand. Get on It, we've pre-sold almost 100 untis already.

t's not that we complain about 29ers, we are complaining about not having the option to still buy 27.5. Similar to the car situation today, I don't hate automatic transmissions, I just think manuals are more fun and should always be an option. (Especially on the "911 of bikes")
  • 5 0
I don't think you will ever again see 27.5 bikes marketed as enduro bikes now that mullets are a thing. Definitely will still see them as "bike park" bikes and trail bikes.
  • 1 0
Yup. I got lucky and snagged one of the last remaining 2021 commencal Supremes in 27.5. discontinued in favour of the mullet. Holding on to this one for a very long time, I'm happy with my 27.5 race bike (I'm short af)
  • 3 0
I'm frankly pissed that YT comes and says "Hey here's the next goat" when you can't buy any of their bikes and they seem to be permanently sold out of everything. What's the point? YT if you are listening....you really suck balls right now.
  • 3 0
The whole bike shortage of 2020/2021 is almost like YT has always been lol.
  • 1 0
It's not their fault the supply chain is still a mess. Now an argument could be made that perhaps bike companies should announce their new models once they actually have an inventory to sell and ship rather than presenting the bike and saying it'll be nine months before you'll ever see one in person just because the supply chain has such a back log. I'm hearing speculation that this back log is likely to ripple for a few years out until enough of the global economy is back up to speed. Huge shortage of workers in manufacturing right now because they all got laid off during the shutdowns and many of those former manufacturing works took that as an opportunity for reflection and have sought out greener pastures. A notable side-effect of the pandemic.
  • 1 0
@SuperHighBeam: Yeah but YT is always sold out, pandemic or not.
  • 1 0
@Svinyard: Ah. I see. That's a different problem altogether. That probably does allow them to keep their prices high though. Kind of a crappy strategy since they inherently discouraging some clients from buying by operating in that fashion. Sounds like they're sending the signal that they are boutique rather than a volume bicycle company. Brands such as Specialized play both sides. They have their low-cost high volume bikes and their high-cost low volume bikes (i.e. S-Works Stumpjumper) but they also have the overhead to play the market in that manner. Many smaller companies must choose between high volume and low cost, or low volume and high cost. Mountain biking tends towards the latter.
  • 7 0
 And..it's gone.
  • 5 0
The one thing I wish my MK2 Capra 29 had that this one does is the SRAM universal hanger. Aside from that, I'm good.
  • 2 0
I'm not sure the distressed look is the best choice for a high-end bicycle. Kind of looks cool, but it also just makes the bike look beat up, and is an unconvincing fake. It would take a lot of punishment for the paint on a bicycle to look like that.
  • 1 0
Maybe a factory patina makes it less attractive to thieves at the park. I’ve already seen notices for 2 new Santa Cruzes stolen from Highland this year
  • 2 0
Yes, but they even failed to completely recreate the look of such badly chipped and weathered paint. I absolutely dig the idea, but the execution is just really crappy.
  • 1 0
@A1990ToyotaHilux: Agreed execution is crappy. They've applied furniture abrasion patterns to something that experiences very different wear. Chips, wear and knicks would have been a better analog for bike wear.
  • 5 3
I gotta say, as a military scale modeler, they got the chipping effect completely wrong. The chip edges are way to smooth and lack depth. Even in 1:35 scale, we get more depth out of paint chips, than they are in 1:1. Also if you do chipping, you have to also do at least some kind of faint rust streaks otherwise it looks way to clean for background color of the chip.
  • 5 0
 Carbon doesn’t rust
  • 1 1
@fewnofrwgijn: yeah, no shit. But chipped paint doesn't look like that either. If you are going for creative liberty, at least do it well.
  • 1 2
@A1990ToyotaHilux: Apart from the fact that the frame is not meant to look like the paint is chipped off, but worn off. Have you ever seen a carbon frame with only putty and primer on it that is ready to be painted? That is pretty much the same looks, but in white/grey, instead of a colour.
  • 1 0
I had the MKII version and the quality of the frame is top notch! But the SAS is awful... Waiting 3 three month for a simple shock axis (many reminds, no answer, stock not correct...)! Furthermore, with a big increase of price of the MKIII, I will turn to others brands...
  • 1 0
I guess being a cheaper, direct buy option means that they cannot come up with some new colors either. They have to copy yeti, ibis, and santa cruz. A bike manufacturer should be able to come up with some different options when deciding the color swatch. So many other companies are putting out some killer paint jobs these days. Yt suffers big time in this dept.
  • 3 0
just amazing looking bikes with even care given to the water bottle people. This could be the ultimate one bike for trails and all round fun. Seems like great value.
  • 5 1
The launch edition of the MX has a very Borderlands vibe and I'm here for it.
  • 2 0
yeah you can tell what game YT has been spending all their time playing during quarantine
  • 4 0
Why can't they offer a frameset for sale? In my mind that would sell so much more for them, I myself would buy one
  • 3 0
They are already out of stock 11 months of the year. I'm not sure they are motivated.
  • 4 3
Sooo, this thing is down on rear travel for both versions, only a lil more than half a degree slacker, the rear travel numbers don’t even imply the possibility of a dc-fork even for the MX-version, now they are trying to choose the type of shock for you instead of you, and the biggest benefit from all is it can accommodate a water bottle now??? Expected more from YT! Expected they’d make it a Norco Shore 2021’s rival, not a Trek Slash’s one...
  • 3 1
not trying to defend them in any way but, for real now, most of the ppl don't live near a bike-park gates. Some need a usable bike, not just a SC park-bike, which the Shore seems to be.
  • 2 3
Why would they put an emphasis on making it dc-fork capable? I'd bet less than 1% of people buying this bike would ever throw a dual crown on it. If you need that then buy a Tues...
  • 3 1
@WY228: why wouldn’t they? Why did they do it with the previous carbon mkII? Probably to keep that “less than 1%” happy as well. I do have a dh-bike with a dc-fork, if i want a new dh, i’d go high pivot. But as age is counting, keeping a full on dh sled is getting harder - getting a dc-capable super enduro/park/freeride frame would be my option. Also there are multiple manufacturers that go the route of dc-capable super enduros (and some even retire their dh models) - Commencal with the Furious and Clash, Rocky Mountain with the Slayer, the Norco Shore and the yet-to-be-released Range HSP, Yeti with the sb165, the Forbidden Dreadnought, and several others. Only 1 brand is going the other way around, meaning a super capable pedaller of a dh-bike: Canfield One.2...
  • 1 0
@hitarpotar: valid points and I get what you mean, it wouldn't hurt for them to just make it capable. But some of the brands you listed like Yeti & Forbidden make their big bike's dc ready because they don't have a DH bike in their lineup. I think YT wants to keep the Tues (especially in 650b) as their "freeride machine"
  • 1 0
@WY228: each brand to their own. True about Yeti and Forbidden, but Norco and Commencal both have super capable dh-bikes (especially Commencal which are at the top right now) and yet they have enduro/park models that are dc-capable. Just a lil dissapointed with YT’s decision about the Capra - it’s like they took the 29’ mkII and used it for both new version while the 27.5’ mkII with the big shock was left out.
  • 4 0
Between Core 3 and Core 4, you're basically paying 1500€ for Kashima coating ?
  • 1 0
So the size range is getting narrower and more granular, which is probably a smarter choice. XL with 487 reach, XXL with 507. Here I was thinking as time went on growing brands would start to do a better job of handling the outliers.
  • 2 0
Lee McCormacks old rough reach sizing is height in CM * 2.5....or 2.55 for guys that want a longer bike. 198cm guy * 2.55 would come out to 504mm of reach. Maybe that XXL does handle the outliers well, especially with longer stays. Jack Moir is riding 464mm of reach I think but he added a lot of bar height. Rude is almost 6ft tall and riding 460mm of reach...which is right about spot on for Lee's metric as well. I'm no expert but there is some evidence that we are starting to hone in on proper fit, especially if you can legit ride and aren't just going straight down.
  • 1 1
@Svinyard: You can’t base your bike fit on what the Pros ride. Even worse is basing it off Lee McCormacks reach ratio.
  • 2 0
@johannensc: Nevertheless its interesting that pros are lining up more with Lee's numbers (which are rough, especially that oversimplified number). What do you think it should be based on?
  • 4 0
Hasn't anyone noticed that Medium comes with a 125mm dropper. What will you do with such a short drop?
  • 2 0
I agree with you, but they're just playing it safe so short people don't have to change in order to even be able to ride it while most everybody else will upgrade to their favorite length and brand.

It would, however, have been great if they'd have designed linkage, water bottle-fit, and seat post angle for a longer dropper post insertion. Then, they could also have shortened the seat tube length for shorter-legged riders, but for me that would maybe have looked weird with the seat post not inserted far in the frame. ‍♂️
  • 2 1
they fixed the size measurement and added a XXL size. No need to downsize anymore to get a proper dynamic bike fit. Its neat to see the crazy reach measurement boomerang a bit back to proper fitment. There are guys that ride steep straight stuff all day that would trade the fun/nimble/dynamic part for extra room (stability can be had by longer stays, HTA and subsequent wheelbase) but for the most of us, a proper dynamic bike fit (you can "deadlift" the bike well when on the pedals) is likely the right fit. The interesting part is that bikes aren't getting longer anymore. We've reached the apex of bike length for the most part. Enduro-Mag tested out proper race weapons on EWS courses and found that proper fitting bikes (not super long) were faster and more fun for that matter. Which is why many pros (especially larger pros) are riding a proper reach bike, sizing down in many cases, rather than a sled because Marketing. Then the Capra shows up with an XL that has the same reach as some more modern 2018 bikes but with a gnarly HTA and longer stays (in Large+ sizes). I like it. Fwiw, they missed the mark with that distressed pink color...it should have been a distressed drab green with some silver marks and drab red. The Boba Fett Speeder bike.
  • 7 5
Pssstttt....I don't want a nosebleed high front end on my trail bike. Staying 27.5 and having a blast. Short inseam guy. I am not alone.
  • 5 1
Do you run a flat bar? It’s only 15mm.
  • 9 1
Literally picturing you hopping on the 29" bike and blood pouring out your nose THANKS YT UGH
  • 8 1
Imagine complaining about 29ers after they’ve been out for over a decade.
  • 6 4
@SterlingArcher: it's not that we complain about 29ers, we are complaining about not have the option to still buy 27.5. Similar to the car situation today, I don't hate automatic transmissions, I just think manuals are more fun and should be an always be an option. (Especially on the "911 of bikes")
  • 3 2
@SterlingArcher: My DH bike is full 29er. Just expressing my opinion. If I don't, they might just get rid of my favorite wheel size for trail....27.5.

Let the record show 3 people tried super hard at snarkiness your honor
  • 5 1
 @blowmyfuse:

options:

1. fork it to 180 w/ a 27 front wheel
2. drop bar
3. negative rise stem
  • 2 5
@blowmyfuse: don’t quit your day job
  • 3 3
@SterlingArcher: A quick glance at your comments reveals you need ALOT of attention and "Don't quit your day job" has been used mulitple times in your "quips and whimsies".

You're trying super hard for upvotes with stuff like this:

"wow you’re really stupid "
"would u like some cheese with that whine?"
"shaddup you ride a Jamis"
"answer the question you godam coward"
"mtbrider71, you're annoying. STFU!"
  • 2 2
@blowmyfuse: Aren’t you the guy that got banned multiple times for being a tool? HAHAHAHA
  • 2 3
@SterlingArcher: you enjoy being a jerk to people.

I speak honestly about topics from a viewpoint that might be unpopular. I cussed out a bunch of overdramatic millenials & a guy who ran around this site stalking and insulting me.

Are you gonna be my new stalker?

Your posts seem to indicate you aren't a deep thinker with contributions that make an impact. They seem like a guy trying to get a reaction. Good luck.
  • 1 0
@blowmyfuse: dude quit stalking me man. You’re creeping me out.
  • 1 0
@blowmyfuse: so you are the guy that got banned multiple times for being a tool. Let’s see how long it takes for the next one muahahaha Wink
  • 1 0
@blowmyfuse If you are a short inseam guy I guess you should look at for example Transition instead of YT. Some reviews have complained about YT Capra having too long of a seat tube. For me it is enough for using a 210 dropper and if you had shorter legs than me I think a OneUp 180 dropper fits slammed in the frame. It is actually the insertion length that is lacking: if there was more, I could have used a 240 dropper, which would have been nice.

The Specialized Enduro, however, has horribly short insertion length in my opinion, not being able to take more than maybe a 160 dropper at most.
  • 1 0
The headset top cover is 15 mm stock on the new Capra. Obviously there is a difference in feel and characteristics having a 27.5 or 29 wheel up front, but I'm interested, what keeps you from just lowering your cockpit (also bar rise) to get your hands down to where they were with a 27.5" front wheel?
  • 5 3
Thought this could be the 2022 bike to have but by the look of the geo chart it’s just another average enduro bike. Glad I didn’t hold out to get one
  • 6 1
How would the geo have made it not “another average enduro bike”? How would that have improved it?
  • 3 0
@jclnv: for people like me (2m tall or 7 bald eagles) the actual STA could be a little bit steeper. There are only a few Bikes, that fit and it would be awesome to have another bikes, that could fit.
  • 2 0
what is your current bike and what geo do you think is "above average"? I'm 172cm tall and curently riding spesh enduro size S3 and I'm sure I would prefer size medium capra, enduro is just bit much of a bike for my height. I can ride it just fine its very good bike dont get me wrong but I feel like I'm always between S and M size on every modern enduro bike(looking at geo charts). This capra looks like perfect geo for my height and of course it sit between S2 and S3 size enduro...
  • 3 1
I’m thinking the geo is actually quite reasonable. Some of these bikes out there have gone too far out in the deep end.
  • 2 3
 @jclnv:

Every year bikes get a few mm’s longer and the tiniest bit slacker. If a bike wants to be ground breaking and not be out dated in a year or two companies need to start pushing themselves slightly more.
I’m 183cm or 6ft and ride a 515mm reach and a 62.5 head angle and love it. Nothing I can’t do as well as my previous bikes
  • 5 1
@bikerboywill: Are humans getting taller to accommodate these larger bikes? Where is the limit and why aren’t EWS races being won with 500mm+ reach bikes? Why doesn’t a tall guy like Jack Moir ride such a bike?
  • 3 3
 @jclnv:

No ones getting taller, mountain bikes are just evolving from road bikes very slowly.

Two reasons pros aren’t on progressively sized bikes;
Sponsorship: the company doesn’t have a long enough bike with a short enough seat tube in their catalog. Their job is to sell bikes, so if you see a rider going fast on a bike, you’ll believe it’s the bike.
Rider habit: rider x has been getting top 10’s on their current bike, is it worth the risk to try something new that might not give them instant top 10’s?
Pro’s are pro’s: they are insanely skilled, they will be fast on a broad range of bikes, me on the other hand needs all the help I can get.

There’s no point in arguing about it until you try a modern bike with a steep seat tube and a longer reach
  • 1 0
@bikerboywill: You seem like you believe your way to go is the only way. I've tried your way and I can understand it, but there are other ways as well. And I think this new Capra is a good middle ground. I mean, I even want it shorter than they recommend!
  • 5 1
is this next years april fool joke?
  • 1 0
No, it's this years joke. They were just loyal to tradition: People pre-ordered on April 1st and took their time to deliver until now.
  • 3 0
Offering such primary colours is a joke.
How old is their designer, 5 years old?
  • 4 0
8 grand and no AXS.....ummm yeah ok
  • 3 1
Paint on the launch edition MX is cool. It would be interesting to see more brands take some creative liberty with aesthetics.
  • 4 0
That sandpapered pink is the ugliest paint scheme there is!
  • 2 0
100 bikes. Once media, athletes and homies are handled there will be 6 of them sold to the public. I'd take that thing in a freaking heartbeat.

  • 2 0
Looks like an old capra but just better. Not a lot to fault, this bike is going to be great for a lot of people.
  • 2 0
Capra finally gets a bottle..... Rigth handed people punching the air right now.
  • 8 0
more like punching that frame strut
  • 6 0
Water bottle on a Capra? I'm out. It's been a fun ride, YT.
  • 3 1
I run a Capra mullet and can confirm it is insane! That blue hits different ooft
  • 4 1
 are these re-worked warranty frames?
  • 2 1
Isn't there any clever way to define BB drop for a mixed-wheel MTB ? Displaying the front/rear BB drop is rather confusing, and hard to compare with other bikes.
  • 2 0
Ask YT how many bearings/bushings are in the swing arm pivots. Go ahead. lolololololol
  • 1 0
8, I guess. What do you mean?
  • 3 0
Markus has been playing way too much Borderlands during quarantine.
  • 4 0
 Y for Yeti-Prices
  • 3 0
The company is just a joke, no customer support what so ever.
  • 2 3
For what it is, the reach is too short, head angle not slack enough and the seat angle is way too slack. Add to that the warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on and the specs are always a bit weird, why buy one? When for similar money you can have better geometry, better quality, better warranty and choose the spec you want?
  • 3 1
Woahhh too expensive. Is there a righthand version for the bottle???
  • 2 1
As a full 27.5 fan, I think I will ride Nukes and Propains for the rest of my life

  • 3 2
Kinda sucks if you usually use your right hand to grab the bottle while riding...
  • 4 0
Orbea does it the same way, i.e. that you have to grab the bottle with your left hand. Occured strange to me in the first place, but makes sense, as you then keep your right hand on the bar, able to shift and operate the rear brake.
  • 4 0
Nobody’s writing novels on their bikes - how hard can it be to grab a bottle with the stranger hand?
  • 1 0
Its the front brake for me, but I agree that your good hand should be steering and braking, while your bad hand does the simple task of drinking. Annoying side effect, I'm very used to reaching down with my left. On the rare occasions I lock my suspension, I always do that with my left instinctivley, but then realise I need to use my right hand for the fork.
  • 1 0
Anyone else think the standover heights are crazy? Small has 743. XXL has 741. Makes no sense.
  • 1 0
My Orbea is giving the side eye to the new Capra on the single sided frame brace.
  • 2 0
And no full size water bottle...

That pink frame is perfect if you love new bikes but want that already tore up visual

  • 1 1
Such a sexy bike! Not really a fan of the paint jobs, but the frame is really nice
  • 1 2
The cockpit looks tight by the geo numbers, short top tube and reach, also no point to size up because of the long seat tube. Kinda old school..
  • 1 0
I love that deep yellow!!! That color would make any bike look awesome.
  • 1 0
That blue will always be "Yeti Blue"!
  • 1 0
Did they fox the part where they break?

I guess “Launch” means to the next year lol
