The 26TRIX dirt jump competition: New date for 2008 is confirmed

Jul 9, 2008
by Jordan Holmes
Three weeks ago, the 26TRIX unfortunately had to be canceled during the Out of Bounds Weekend because of the bad weather conditions. But the 26TRIX, as one of the biggest dirt jump competitions worldwide, will hit Leogang on September 19th and 20th again. Be prepared to see world’s best dirt jumpers battling for 8.000 Euros prize money in total. It was a real bummer that the riders from 14 countries had only a very few chances to enjoy the huge sized 26TRIX dirt track during the Out of Bounds Weekend 2008. All of them have been really impressed by the new course. Seeing the track for the first time, last year’s winner Jamie Goldman stated: ”The course is longer and looks like it’s gonna be the best ever!” Nine big doubles and two steep berms are still waiting to be rocked by the competitors.

Even after very short training sessions, the riders have been so stoked by the course that they were all anxious to come back to Leogang again to be able to rock the whole dirt line and to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the 26TRIX. Most well known riders that are expected to come back to the biggest dirt jump course in Europe should be: Cam McCaul, Jamie Goldman, Trond Hansen, Benny Korthaus, Timo Pritzel, Lance Mc Dermott, Sam Pilgrim or the Lacondeguy brothers.

These riders won’t be the only ones having fun on September 19th and 20th. On the same weekend the final competition of the iXS European Downhill Cup will also be held at the Bikepark Leogang. Therefore the spectators will be able to enjoy a thrilling combination of high speed downhill racing and spectacular dirt jump tricks. After the qualifying of the 26TRIX on Friday and the finals on Saturday, the best riders of the iXS-DH-Cup have to master the technically very challenging trail and crown their overall champion on Sunday, September 21st.

Yeah this is all well and good, but you don't mention anything about alot of lesser known riders who won't be attending. The young up and comers don't have factory sponsorship and don't have the money to get out to Leogang again after they have already paid for themselves once for the cancelled comp. I mean damn, it will be a sick event, but it just sucks that there are young guys who deserve to be there but won't because they can't afford to pay the airfares twice. Such is life I guess.
