4X Pro Tour Preview Fort William

Jun 5, 2013
by Chris Roberts

Round 2 of the 4X ProTour could be one of the most eagerly anticipated races in recent years. Not due to the men who are racing, but more so the women who are entered.

Former 2 time 4X World Champion and BMX Olympian, Caroline Buchanon is back to race the 4X ProTour in Fort William. After taking time out from 4X to focus on BMX for the Olympics, she will return at Fort William to see if she can pick up where she left off. However, Anneke Beerten, the 2012 4X World Champion is also returning after racing Enduro in the early months of 2013. Anneke will, for sure, be out to show the World she is still the World’s number 1, 4X rider.

They will both have to beat the current queen of 4X – Katy Curd. The British rider is so far unbeaten in international 4X in 2013 and she will be giving it her all to make sure she takes the win in front of her home crowd in Fort William. Celine Gros, Lucia Oejtens, Steffi Marth, Eva Castro plus a whole host of British 4X women will all surely make this one of the most spectacular women’s 4X races in recent years.

In the men’s, the racing is going to be electric. Tomas Slavik took the win at the opening round and very much looks like the man to beat. Michal Prokop finished 2nd at round 1 with a great ride, however the home crowd in Fort William will surely be getting behind British rider Scott Beaumont. After finishing 3rd at the opening round Scott has not been off the podium all year and he will be desperate to continue that podium run in Fort William.

David Graf is returning to 4X this weekend. The Swiss rider sustained an injury in the off season and Fort William will see his return to racing. He is always a contender and will definitely be looking to return to 4X with a bang this weekend.

Also returning is Joost Wichman. The Dutch rider can win on any track and will certainly be in the mix.

Fort William is an amazing venue for 4X. The track is demanding for the riders and entertaining for the crowd. The riders and spectators both love it and Saturday night, June 8th, the sparks will fly as all the riders battle to see who will take the win at round 2 of the 2013 4X ProTour.
