I'm attempting to compete in the Mega Avalanche in 2010 - It's a journey of 52 weeks till I actually get there and it's gonna be tough! Read on to hear more about my week of new sponsors, filming for a video and ridiculous wind! Inside are the pics, video diary and loads of letters from the alphabet, which form words that will tell you about week 10 in my journey to Mega 2010.week 10 video - By Nico Turner:
MondayIt's 10am and I am on my I-phone sat in The
Haro bike's showroom/reception licking my lips at all this shaped and painted metal in front of me, with only my son to distract me from what amazing possibility could actually happen this morning.
A meeting begins and very quickly we have agreed a deal between Haro bikes and Project 52 weeks. Our meeting concluded with Haro agreeing to supply the project with a BMX, Hardtail, All mountain rig and we will be having further discussions regarding a more specific Downhill bike in the very near future.
I leave the meeting very positively with a brand spanking new, Haro all mountain rig on the back of my car, and a massive smile upon my face! The guys I met - Gary and Adam, seem very excited and passionate about supporting our project, and I feel they will contribute a lot more in this sense, than just equipment to our mission to mega!

Super, super stoked!New Ride
Ended the day by meeting up with a young guy called
Nico Turner for a filming session on my new bike. Was a bit weird going to ride some trails for filming on a bike I have never ridden before - but it would fine!
Nico is releasing his second film in November called "Hoonin II" - This kid has bags of talent and he has kindly put together our edit for week 10! See link to his trailer which was recently VOD!
Hoonin II Trailer.
After a great session of filming and shredding the dusty hemlock tracks with the locals, it was time to go home for a late night!
TuesdayPretty much a boring day compared to yesterday - LOL - it's not everyday you get sponsored by a Bike company!
Spent the day with Elijah and hit some softplay and then home for some paperwork and songwriting for our upcoming gig in 2 weeks time.
WednesdayWednesday afternoon was a bit of a jumbled riding diet. Started the day with a good 25 miles on the roadbike followed by a session at Morley where we met up with Nico again for some filming for his film. Was joined by some of Nico`s riding mates inc the rapid -
Lee Gratton on his blue intense, comedy
Tom on his demo and another fast shredder to watch out for
Ben - The session ended with a few train runs down the lines at Morley with the locals leading the way in a blurry style.
ThursdayAttended a meeting first thing this morning - which was a real important one going back into work for me. Many of you know and a lot don't that I work for Christian organizations and Churches speaking / preaching - something that a lot of riders that I meet "shocks" them a lot. You do actually find a lot of young, normal, interesting people in some churches - I agree though - I`m not what you'd expect to find in a Church! The meeting went well and I am firmly back on the Journey into working towards being used and working again in the city - after my spell of time off.
Friday Ok so - picked up Nico at the crack of dawn and headed over to the
Haro UK showroom to meet
Adam -
Haro Bike's Brand Manager and to film some close shots of the bikes etc. Had a great quick meeting as I saw my 2010 bikes which I will be getting my hands on within the month - I and Nico both agreed that the Eric Porter signature bike that I get in 3 weeks, was definitely the sickest in the range I am getting!
After our spell we were off to my new local playground to finish our filming at Robinswood near derby. After a few hours of downhill riding and head butting the occasional tree we finally had enough footage for Nico to edit into a smooth video as you have already seen!
Arrived home to a Huge Box of race gear from our new sponsors at
Dirt mx, welcome guys and thank you!

Saturday Windy windy day - Cannock weather station reported 45km/h winds at the time we were riding - so the day included dust, falling branches and the odd dodgy moment as we aired jumps with big sideways winds!
Why was I in Cannock again? - I have grown found of this spot and the people and you will see a separate and more detailed write up on this and the reason why later in the week!
I Spent the afternoon training with
The Racer's Guild Sponsored Team -
The Squadron. My guides for the afternoon were
Aaron Neumann (Team manger) and riders
Elliot Gill, Elliot Machin and Andy Hughes. Unfortunately Gregg Hampton was away at Uni so we headed into the woods for some good old DH riding. There was some great riding taking place from all and it was captured brilliantly by
Team Boon on the Video camera and
Drifterjon on stills! So after a quick chat in the car park we hit some of the marked runs and then disappeared from the crowds and popular trails to the Cannock underground tracks. A great session with a hilarious group of guys, a very chill day was had by all!
These riders are amazing talents and I hope we will see more of them in the future! Thanks guys for an awesome day!
Here are some pics of the day courtesy of

Sunday Day of rest!
Had a great time chilling with the family today and then headed to Nico`s to collect his Haro edit for their stand which will be shown at The Bike Show in London this coming weekend -
This week has been truly amazing - and I will remember it for the rest of my life. Thanks especially to all the people who made this week so awesome -
Matt and Gary at Haro, Nico turner, Team Boon, Drifterjon, The Squadron and all the locals who ride with me when I appear on their soil!
See you all again next week! -
John aka JumbleThanks to all our awesome and supportive sponsors
so sick with the haro deal. in terms of DH rig inm guessing your getting an EXTREME x series? i doubt a porter would be worthy of DH'ing... but check out my haro extreme on my profile... looks alot like a long travel porter...
good luck john! look good buddy!
look forward to reading next weeks...
Its also good to see the likes of Drum Hill and Hemlock appearing on the front page of Pinkbike haha, never thought i'd see the day! On that note, me and a couple of mates rebuilt one of the old ladder drops at Drum Hill, to the left of the rock drop on the main line, but haven't been up there since we put it up as my ankle is still very much in recovery from failing a gap jump at Wharncliffe! Do you happen to know if its still there?
Good luck on getting prepped for the Mega, definately a possibility for me next year. We normally ride one of the local hills on a Weds, whilst we can still see in the evenings anyway, so may well cross paths at some point, i ride an SX trail with my mate on a stinky.
sick sickk! and cheers for the mention
look forward to seeing the next vid
have you been to stainburn before?
whats the song of the first video ???
