Only a few riders figured out if your seat is slammed why not drop a pound and cables and run a real DS setup. Dropper post for DS ???????
  • 2 2
@fecalmaster: they are ok with you only if you fix the DS setup then do the revesre jod while they are drinking some beers watching you lost your time i guess

@migkab: Down voted your comment, because carbon frames are toxic and will kill, so if you ever burn your carbon frame do NOT on any surcumstances spread it around it will kill!
  • 2 2
@migkab: MY BAD, Polygon is in fact Aluminium, but would say the paint is still toxic
  • 1 0
@aljoburr: are you serious about not having fun in replacement for some dirty ground?
  • 1 1
@aljoburr: downvoted because im a grammar nazi

If you let your eyes go a little lazy and look at the polygon, the rear triangle looks like a dolphin breaching the water. Lol
  • 2 0
 Haha so true!
  • 13 4
 420
  • 5 0
they took a front triangle and then another slightly smaller front triangle, turned upside down and put it on the back of the first one

@c1c51: equal and opposite opposing forces!
  • 5 0
@c1c51: Ahah Ben Cathro owns that one
  • 14 1
Now THAT's some properly used cranks on the last Rocket. On the subject of cranks what are the ones fitted to Ben Moore's Orange?
  • 2 0
 Hmmm.... maybe Canfield?
  • 3 1
Did a quick search but couldn't find anything about it. Looks like the 1st gen Race Face Next, alu with carbon inserts.
  • 1 0
@nozes: I am thinking AC cranks but can't prove it.
  • 3 0
@nozes: they had a 5 bolt spider though if Im not mistaken.
  • 1 0
@mhoshal: They look like, but obviously aren't the same.
  • 1 0
 ah, shoe polished.
  • 12 1
That Polygon is odd looking bike The Orange on the other hand is a thing of beauty.
  • 16 0
The Cotics look long compared to the other bikes.
  • 3 0
I think challenging is the word to describe the Polygon.
  • 7 0
@DJ-24: the cotic looks so much better than the rest. So clean and I’m loving the thin tubes.
  • 2 1
The Orange looks nice in terms of paint and parts, but I've always felt like their welds make their bikes look like Frankenstein's monster.
  • 2 1
@rezrov: they look the same as all the welds on the bikes featured (apart from the carbon one).
  • 1 0
@rezrov: orange welds look very good on their normal tubed frames,it’s frames like the alpine, five etc that look a bit agricultural but then its way harder to weld thin sheeted aluminium folded to make their box section stuff. I own a five and the welds are fine but you can’t get the lovely stacked type weld on that kind of frame.
  • 2 1
@mikelee: Yeah I'm talking mostly about their FS bikes, rather than the hardtail. The Crush just reminded me of their FS bikes.

@fatduke: The Crush is the only alloy bike that has that extra chunk welded between the headtube and downtube. That's typically only seen on steel bikes, and doesn't look very elegant on an alloy bike, imo.
  • 2 0
@mikelee: I bet Karl Nicolai could.
  • 3 1
@mikelee: Yes dude, that's the magic of steel. You're british, at least you are sensitive to that. I own a Stanton Switchback, such a great machine, and when I look at Starling, BTR, Kingdom Bike and so on, I can confess that I am a big fan of british bikes. God save steel bikes!!!!
  • 1 0
 @rezrov: fair point
  • 11 0
I'd try to shift gears with my foot if I had a frame shifter
  • 6 0
I'm out of the loop- what's the purpose of a frame shifter??
  • 7 0
 @SeanC1: for barspinss bro
  • 3 0
@SeanC1: if you set them up right you can shift with your heel you can mount one too a bottle cage hole if you cut off the bar band on an old shifter it fits perfect I made one in 09 for bars spins and tailwhips
  • 4 1
@loganflores: but then no room for a bottle
  • 18 0
@maxlombardy: Of course there is, on the handlebar.
  • 2 2
@sambosuda: but it's running single speed by the looks of it??
  • 1 3
@maxlombardy: why would you want a water bottle on a bike like this
  • 2 0
@nfontanella: The more airtime you're getting, the more important it is to stay hydrated during those longer flights.

I recall a cool picture of Sam Hill taking a tear-off from his goggles mid flight. Now that bottle cages have become all the rage, I want to see pictures of people taking sips whilst airborne.
  • 3 0
 @silverfox101010: look closer... it’d a DH drivetrain.
  • 1 0
@nfontanella: Not a water bottle but a bottle full of beer would be nice?
  • 1 0
@vinay: seen that Kerr vs. beer video?
  • 12 2
That Polygon = Art Nouveau - all those organic lines.
  • 6 0
 solid reference
  • 2 1
Yeah but too flouro, some dark pastel shades = bang on.
  • 3 1
I'm a big fan of art nouveau, this bike unfortunately doesn't look anything like that. Looks are subjective but to me it just looks like a confused mess. Like someone's first go at making a frame, then bumping into the limiting design parameters of manufacturing and trying to figure out how to make it work, completely ignoring form in the process. Sorry.

Beautiful organic lines= Ibis Mojo. Still not art nouveau though.

that polygon equals art nouveau minus all those organic lines..? Pimp
  • 9 0
 The lines on those cotics!
  • 8 0
 Those Cotics are sweet as!

So many little stones left unturned.

Anybody know what front hub is on the airborn? What about the stem that Josh is running? If you run a rear brake with enough slack for 1 spin, do you need to run a down tube shifter? Couldn’t you set up the derailleur cable with a single loop and have it shift fine?

Oh, and that Orange is magnificent, but blacked out labels on the Hope rims would send it over the top to perfection.
  • 2 0
Which Josh? Ratboys stem looks like a brown Burgtech Mk2 to match the bars (www.pinkbike.com/photo/15680275) and Loosedogs looks like a truvativ descendant.
  • 1 0
Aagro: as per the single loop you can but it makes the shift pull much harder on your thumb and if the spin goes a little too much it try's pulling the cable housing which shifts the chain onto the next easiest gear mid air I got it too work on some old large freeride bikes but every once in a while this happend so I chopped it back down to normal.
  • 5 0
Bryceland off Fox and on RockShox now?
  • 2 0
It does look like he has SRAM everything on this bike.
  • 1 1
This is actually josh lewis's bike...
  • 4 0
Interesting to see what bits people end up on once they are off the full sponsorship train
  • 7 2
Out of 36 men and 17 women I kinda expected more than 8 bikes.....
  • 6 1
There was a Ti Stanton hardtail there, which was a thing of absolute beauty. Definitely should have been included here.
  • 1 0
 @malv173:

The one off Ti 4X bike they made a few years back? That was stunning
  • 1 0
@christiaan: Looking at the current frames, I think it must have been. A sweet looking bike indeed.
  • 5 0
Shaniqua the 2nd is looking bitchin'
  • 7 3
 That orange Orange is fantastic!
  • 2 1
 Vanilla hardtail.
  • 3 0
Interesting. Aluminum 5010s. Are those 7 speed cassettes?
  • 2 0
Yea. I figure it's because you don't need high gears for slalom or jibbin.
  • 5 0
Go watch Wheel Love. they've basically made the 5010 into a bmx bike for gnarly stuff, no climbing. wanna do that with my old bronson frame.
  • 13 1
I think Josh said that it's because alu holds up better to being slammed into sharp rocks.
  • 3 0
@N-60: No that's cause Rats eats carbon...
  • 5 0
@N-60: It's funny he said that, because Santa Cruz would like you to believe the exact opposite.

But if anyone would know it'd be Josh, certified rock slammer.

 @sosburn: Link?

Can you get Airdrop bikes in the U.S.?
  • 7 15
flag jase111171 (Mar 10, 2018 at 21:11) (Below Threshold)
There just a generic Taiwanese frame, with Airdrop decals on,theres probably other Bikes out there that are exactly the same frame.
  • 2 0
They don't have a US distributor but Ed will ship his bikes worldwide if asked, best bet is to email him to get an idea of cost.
  • 1 0
@jase111171: not the case. Designed by Ed in Sheffield
  • 1 1
@miketizzle: I stand corrected then,it's just I was considering one, then I read a back to back comparison review with the bird Aeris, and it said the airdrop frames was just out of a generic Taiwanese factory frame design. Then the frames on the webpage were actually different ftom the ones being sold.(Cable Routing)So I just thought something isn't quite right.I saw Ed and the boys at Lady Canning once, but the cables under the BB,zipped tied to the ISCG mount, looked awful, put me off,Sure there great bikes, and the I know the Lads have a good customer rep.I opted for the Aeris in the end, which is a shame, cos I would have preferred to support the local guys.Ill try and find the article and post it up.
  • 2 0
At what point due these guys get rid of the dropper and just use a short searpost/seat like DH for events like this?
  • 8 0
It’s a pretty informal race, I doubt anybody is bringing a specific bike or making many changes they’re just using their everyday mess around bike - hence Josh Lewis having a downtube mounted shifter.
  • 1 0
Yeah I've def raced with a dropper all the time, cause it was just part of my bike. Plus, you can ride back up to the top easier and save your legs.
  • 3 1
Josh on Rock Shox? WTF? That black cotic looks awesome!
  • 1 1
probably not, he was racing in Chile on Fox like 2 weeks ago. maybe just a leftover parts bike.
  • 2 0
Prototype x-fusion forks on the bottom pic??
  • 2 0
They are stock Metrics with black stanchions. Not sure they ever made production. Richard is our Marketing guy and he got these from the X Fusion USA office a year or so back before it closed.
  • 1 0
@cotic-bikes: they look good. I want a 27.5+ metric. Xfusion are nice forks
  • 2 1
Eight bikes, and only one made of plastic. Ahhhhhhh, breathing in that fresh air.
  • 1 0
Like Josh Lewis' s gear shifter, is that a foot shifter, I used have my gear shifter mounted on back of my saddle!
  • 1 0
is Josh B. riding now with sram/rock shox?
  • 1 0
Looking that way and since he made the move away from Fox as helmet and kit sponsor. No ENVE wheels either, just Santa Cruz own Carbon hoops.
  • 1 0
What is the advantage of mounting the shifter to the frame?
  • 3 1
For slopestyle bikes so you can have gears, but stil barspin or tailwhip, and loose has one just because he sends it
  • 2 0
@rkats: yep, only any use to riders who barely change gear, choose a gear then use it for the whole run.
  • 1 0
What are the little black blocks on the 5010 seat tubes?
  • 2 0
They cover up the hole where the front mech would go.
  • 6 0
 @ltayls: what is ‘front mech’?
  • 4 3
wow i think they all look sick except the polygon which looks awful
  • 2 1
That Polygon made a little bit of sick come up.
  • 1 0
Two bikes with WTB tires, nice!
  • 1 0
 dat polygon collosus really cool.
  • 4 3
 Only 1 womens bike?
  • 1 1
 Bikes are getting weirder ffs.
  • 1 0
