Yes, we all love bikes but it's not often you meet guys who eat, drink and sleep with bikes quite like Maciek Kucbora and Wojtek Koniuszewski. They may just be the two biggest bike addicts on the planet. Coming from the same town, they have been good friends and team mates for over 15 years now. Back in 2005 they were the first two Poles ever to represent their country in BMX racing World Championships. Each of them have been on podiums of national downhill, dual slalom and 4x championships multiple times. Throughout the years they have raced over 200 various bike events and visited some of the most amazing European riding spots. In the past Wojtek used to pedal a steel hardtail all the way from Poland to Spain when he had some spare time between racing and work. Both of them have at least 10 bikes in their garage, of all shapes and sizes.

Today both guys are closely connected to the bike industry. Wojtek is an owner of the bike tour and skill camp company, Maciek is the full suspension product developer at NS Bikes and is strongly involved with the pumptrack culture - he designs and builds great tracks.

When we started out with our new project, the Eccentric, we knew that we wanted these guys to be involved in its development. With their rich background in all modern riding genres and roots planted firmly in old-school MTB, they were exactly the people that we were looking for.

The concept was to make an aggressive hardtail using all the knowledge that we have acquired over the years in making steel frames, including the FMB World Tour winning Majesty. In fact, the Eccentric uses our proprietary Tange Eccentric tube set - the same that can be found in our top end dirt jump frame.

The result is an incredibly strong yet light trail bike built around 650B wheels and 142x12 rear axle standard. With 140mm fork travel and short chainstays, this bike will cover a lot of ground. This includes high mountain enduro, long distance cross country rides, and unlike full suspension bikes, it's a perfect pumptrack tool too! What surprised us is that Wojtek actually uses his Eccentric for practicing his dirt jump skills!

Both Maciek and Wojtek agree that every mountain bike rider should ride a hardtail on a regular basis, as it is not only a mind-opening experience, but a tool that will build your basic riding skills faster than anything else.

great vid. the sound makes it great. i never listen to music while i'm riding. that sound of tires rolling over dirt... the hum of the freewheel... that's what fills the atmosphere. you captured that sense in a beautiful way here. thanks for your efforts.

Awesome video, has a really surreal feel. You don't always need fast paced music and insane shredding for a great video (although it does help), and this is a prime example.

 Fantastic Video!
The bikes look great.
Truly is a great feeling doing and AM adventure on a HT!
Makes you feel like you have accomplished something more!

RideOn!

Here is my adventure with my buddy both on The NS Surge!

Haha! Accomplish something more - hah! I always like riding HT with friends on full sussers, I get an excuse to ride slower and whenever I clean some tech section, I can count on them being at least a tiny bit impressed - win win! BTW - Awesome video Niko! I missed that one in thepast

 ahahhahhahaha
Yes, the accomplishment of clearing a rocky section while your mates plow it on their full sus, gives you a sense of pure pride.

Thank you that was a cool ride and we just both happened to be on NS bikes kind of like this article.
However we are just on normal plain old 26" wheels, hahahah

RideOn Waki!

What the hell man?! Why did you mention wheels?! Don't mention the wheels on the internet, it's like mentioning war in Ger... Gua... Geor... Ghandi and Great... shit every nation starting with G was in some controversial war! Oh there is one - Greenland! Mentioning wheel size on internet is like mentioning carbon dioxide and methane on Greenland - people melt down when they hear that!

hhahhahahhahah Im not trying to start a war, plus my video is from 2 years ago so the controversy wan nonexistent at the time, ahahhahha Im standing tall as I stick with my 26 wheels. They make me feel like Im a true man when I roll knowing Im still sporting something I know!

Honestly it's making me think of swapping my full suspension rig, for a hard tail!! That's is one awesome video guys.

Ya not gonna go that far but I really like these bikes, maybe add one to the stable....

I just built up a steel HT after not having a HT for over 10yrs(last one was titanium), and it is fun and feels "pure", but I wouldn't want it as my "only" bike...in fact I took out the AM rig today and it felt so good using that suspension again...I realized how much I love modern technology and how much more I push the bike.
It sort of depends on the trails you're riding also...I'll be taking the HT to a very smooth/rolly trail soon and i expect it to fly, but many of the other trails near me are really rough...roots, rocks, etc., and the HT is an ass-basher and can wear you out on stuff like that. Adding to the stable is definitely recommended!

In 20yrs of riding I have all ways rode XC HT's. I'm currently building my first AM "full sus". I'm stoked to see how different it is from a XC HT.

Would be interesting to hear your take on finally jumping the fence and going F/S, and apparently more beefy with "AM". I guarantee your riding will change(more aggressive), and if it doesn't then just stick with the HT, ha ha. But seriously, that's pretty amazing you've waited this long....will be a new world!
I'm experimenting with the 650b wheels and bought the HT with that in mind, but plan to swap wheels on bikes and see if it truly is worth all the hype...can't imagine frame geo will play that big of a roll for specific wheels

Cool! Kind of seems like a heavy/burly build(all the Atlas stuff), for that bike. I'm sure you'll have fun either way

I've been off my bike for a while due to an injury and that sound of tires on dirt made me miss it more than anything. I ride and snowboard without music. So many awesome sounds on the trail. This video captures that so well.

Brilliant video, great to see lads on the trusty hardtails too! Especially liked the sound in the video, nice and understated, the clink of the glasses at the end was the icing on that cake!

What a unique video. TWENTYSIX inch wheels, HARDTAILS, no dubstep music or ott slow-mo and foliage shots (although a couple were there). It's great hearing the sound of bikes on the trail, you don't need anything else.
