Some of you may have noticed last week there was a post that mentioned that Andreu Lacondeguy was now riding for YT-Industries. It's now official, we received this today:

Barcelona, Spain, October, 24th 2011 – As of right now, l'enfant terrible of the freeride scene, Catalan Andreu Lacondeguy is riding with a new bike sponsor. YT has signed the young Spaniard and is looking forward to working with one of the most colorful personalities of the mountain bike scene.

The 22 year-old freerider from Barcelona is definitely the most flamboyant of mountain bike stars. Andreu is well known for his exceptionally high, far and super extended supermans, unmatched in style and elegance. This is why Andreu’s bikes are always under a bit more stress than those of other freeriders and have to withstand extreme gravity forces; one of several reasons why Andreu chose YT-Industries, a brand that stands for quality and innovation.

bigquotesI feel really great on the new bikes. Especially the Dirt Love looks really cool and is great to ride. Perfect for big jumps, just like a dirt jump bike has to be! It wasn't that easy to find a brand that fits my style perfectly. But when I looked at the 2012 YT-models, I found some amazing bikes that almost seemed to be custom-made for me. YT was definitely the right choice. - Andreu Lacondeguy

The young team of the bike manufacturer from Forchheim, Germany, (which has been awarded several prizes for their unconventional and innovative design) is also looking forward to the cooperation with Andreu Lacondeguy.

bigquotesWe are extremely proud Andreu chose us as his new sponsor because of our products. We can't wait to work with him! Anyone who knows us knows that Andreu and YT are the perfect match. Just like him, our brand is kind of unconventional and a bit different. - Markus Flossmann, YT-Industries' CEO

For the next season, Andreu will ride on the YT-models DIRT LOVE, PLAY and TUES 2.0. and to embrace his style completely at every point, Andreu will actively participate in development these bikes. For YT and Andreu the 2012 season can already begin!

"This is why Andreu’s bikes are always under a bit more stress than those of other freeriders"

Hmm, im pretty sure all other freeriders bikes have to withstand as much force, like Cam Zink backflipping a massive drop, or Messere Frontflipping the Joyride drop.

that's just something they say to promote themself!
  • 29 0
Would not exactly be selling it if they said " well it's about average for a bike of it's intended use , nothing special "xD
  • 9 2
Da-Moose - i meant to hit Positive (not Negative) props for your comment.
  • 4 2
Ya but there not doing a double back flip at crankworx
  • 2 0
ya, they're doing stuff that puts a bike under alot more stress
  • 6 1
A-2WD youre going to get whipped for that....
  • 1 0
lol, i thought i might...it was an honest mistake Smile Looks like i need to slow my mouse speed down hehe

Awesome that YT is gonna get some publicity. Their stuff is pretty sick
  • 4 1
Oh yes! German stuff is hopefully going big tup
  • 6 1
Meh, their stuff isnt that extremely awesom, there are way better german brands out there Wink
  • 2 1
yt is as german as my nike shoes are....
  • 1 0
P.S.: im not saying they are bad.
  • 1 1
They are! Wink There isnt a lot of German stuff out there. I mean, whats made in Germany, i can only come up with double dragon, which is 100% made in germany, and continental tires, but thats about it.
  • 1 0
Schwalbe, Nicolai, continetal, moro, spank... There are so many german brands and manufacturers
  • 1 0
all of that stuff is not 100% made in germany. I was refering to Frame manufacturers, but whatever.

Honestly did not see this coming. YT make some sick bikes for the money though Smile
  • 1 3
Maybe, but from my point of view it's just another step back for Andreu...
  • 3 1
not a step back at all who cares what he rides just because he rides for YT now does not making him any less dialed.. all this is duing is helping a company grow i garuntee 30% of the people on this site never even herd of trek until semenuk and mcaull started riding for them.
  • 1 0
everyone's heard of trek, at least in the states

I'm not sure it's a good business move for Andreu. Changing bike sponsors this often implies that you have no loyalty and will just ride for whoever will pay you. 2 years ago he was saying Kona were the greatest thing ever, then Mondraker, now YT - how are we supposed to take an endorsement from this guy seriously?
  • 7 0
He rode for kona for years though... We do not know what happened.
  • 5 0
yeah he only rode with mondraker for one year, but my guess is that its because mondraker isnt too huge in the DJ and SS scene
  • 2 0
The summum is beautiful. Not a fan of the slope bike...
  • 1 1
I've always assumed guys ride for whoever pays the most - not the brand they want to ride. I think it is short-sighted for a brand to think sponsoring a high-profile rider for a year will put them on the map. It seems like people only start paying attention to the brand a rider is on once it becomes a longer term deal and people start thinking of the rider and the brand together.

Hope this doesn't make YT up their prices. Really want a tues fr at the price it's selling for at the moment Razz

i hopefully will the get LTD tues 2010!!! Big Grin
but yeh no price increase would be good but as someone mentioned this deal got them lots of promo and now everyone is checking out their bikes!

We’ve noticed there’s a lot of speculation out there as to the real reasons behind Andreu’s new bike sponsor, as there always is when an athlete changes frames. We know, you’ll probably think we are biased, but since we work with Andreu, here’s our piece of mind anyway. It is definitely not a step down for him to sign up with an up-and coming brand that make some great bikes and you may just not have heard of yet. YT has an attitude that fits Andreu perfectly and they are ready to work closely with him. Also, Mondraker unfortunately decided to shift some budget and no longer support Andreu which opened him up to pick a brand that’s fits him better. In general, yes, contracts do run out and need to be signed again and there we are.
