 Thanks Bell!

that generosity is what makes mountain biking such a great sport, unique from all other sports.

Best promo ever. Good job Bell, I probably won't ever ride any of those actual locations myself, but that is properly awesome and all else being equal, I'd buy a Bell helmet over an alternative based on that kind of contribution to the MTB community.
  • 7 0
its really nice seeing how many new and awesome trails there are gonna be. BUT we need more trails parks in Ontario!!
  • 5 0
I would buy a bell helmet as thanks for this, but the one I got 6 years ago is still absolutely fine. Thanks Bell.
  • 4 0
I just bought a bell and am very glad i did after seeing them do this.

Is it time for Troy Lee Designs?
  • 6 0
It reflects well on a company when they contribute back to Mountain biking community so generously. I'll make sure to pick up a bell helmet for my next replacement dirt jumping lid.
  • 5 0
Because Colorado ,Vermont and Michigan needed MORE epic stuff to ride .
  • 4 0
i may consider buying bell next time
  • 1 0
I've never really fit best in Bell, but I'll try a few more on now after seeing this. Go KT!!

how the f*ck did a trail at a resort win 100K over any publicly funded and built trail. Ask yourself that the next time for buy a $60 lift ticket, pay $7 for a drink or $50 for brake pads.
  • 1 4
I agree. You also couldnt vote from a mobile device or with Firefox for a browser. Why should it all boil down to Facebook votes? Just meant there was more of a population base in Vermont. DISLIKE VERY MUCH!
  • 4 0
Burke is actually part of the Kingdom Trails network, so it is not exclusively funded by lift ticket and concession sales. Riders pay for the lift ticket, but they also pay for a KT access pass when they go up the lift at Burke. Not only that, but Burke is pretty damn reasonable as far as bike parks go. I believe $32 gets your ticket (can't remember to be honest because I buy a season pass on the cheap) and you can get brake pads for $10. And why should it matter whether or not the trail is publicly funded? You have a problem with democratic solutions?
  • 1 1
No I have a problem when places like Sandy Ridge which gets no funding looses to a trail that is attached to a commercial entity.

rip8569 get out of here and take your logic with you!

Elm Creek MN should have won the pump track. I'm pretty sure it was tied at the end percentage wise. I'd say that Minnesota needs a few more resources to develop the sport mountain biking than Colorado. Yes I'm bitter about it.
  • 4 1
 Why so Serious?
  • 1 1
Elm Creek lost by 30 votes according to a Bell spokesperson www.steamboattoday.com/news/2013/apr/18/steamboat-online-voters-earn-local-nonprofits-tens.

I'd be bitter too if my cycling community let me down.
  • 4 0
It's all good. I'm from that area and we put in a lot of hard work and effort and tried our best and our local MTB club, MORC did an awesome job. There is no reason to be bitter, it was super close and we got a lot of exposure for mid-west riding. It would have been cool to have Elm Creek win and get to have a pro build bike park but eh not going to cry about it. Congrats to all the winners. We will carry on!
  • 4 4
Well, if you are unfortunate enough to live in Michigan, maybe it's time to move to Steamboat and stop being sour! The biking community here is deep, hence our votes. That's how this thing works. Thanks Bell, we will do you proud!
  • 1 3
Dude steam boat set up a voting station at the gondola and had tourist vote. How deep of a riding community is that if you had to rely on that much out side help we have a strong riding community just not a central point for all our tourists to walk by and vote for us. Its cool the dice just didn't shake our way or maybe steam boat had a better sceem then us
  • 3 0
We set up trailer with computers at the base of the ski area so our friends could vote since you couldn't vote from mobile devices. It's April, there were no tourist in town. We also got all our friends, family, and co-workers to vote.

Better scheme then you, huh? we didn't have any schemes, we just busted our ass and ended up winning by 30 votes.
  • 1 0
Good for you guys I'm not mad I truly hope your park turns out great and it helps build your riding community. Maybe some day I'll get a chance to ride it.
  • 3 0
Tourists to Steamboat wouldn't save a drowning puppy... they crap all over our town and couldn't give two shits about helping us out. As a local I can assure you 99% of the votes were from people who live here, care about our biking, or want more opportunity for kids to have a place to ride. The "sceem" we had was this tiny town LOVES bikes we and came together to try and build a kick ass park. It was in our local paper, the buzz on the street corners, chatter in our grocery stores, topic of happy hours, and all over our FB pages.
  • 2 0
sorry to hear that after chattin with Eric I'm actually really stoked for you guys. I hope they go big time and sounds like I need to get out to steam boat next year for sure! Good luck
  • 10 1
 Thank you Bell.

I am disappointed a trail inside a commercial resort won over a trail on public land (Corral), but they got more votes so that's that.
  • 4 3
And of course, congrats to the winners!
  • 10 1
congrats! very cool program. now if only I lived closer to one of these....
  • 2 0
Aye Mate! I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA!!!
  • 9 4
Congrats to ll the winners, thanks Bell for the generosity and commitment to evolve the sport.
You would think for charging riders 30 dollars, Burke VT would have had money to fund there own trail. Maybe now they will drop the price! It will probably only encourage them to charge more. I heard Vail Resorts is also looking for handouts, any takers?
  • 2 0
Day tickets at KT are $15, don't think they could drop the price any more...
  • 7 1
Heck yea KTA! So stoked and proud of our little state and its kickass mtn bike trails!
  • 1 0
we'll go visit you my friend across the border!
  • 4 1
Thanks Bell and congrats to the winners. Looking forward to the progress here and also visiting Burke again soon. This pump track area is across town from the ski resort and the people that have been working on it are all just bike riders. Please dont hate on us just because its a ski town. Trying to get anyone to support anything besides epic cross country has been a long pain full road. Thanks for the support bell.

Word. I'll be back in the boat this Summer! An awesome place! These ignorant people don't know what they're missing!
  • 2 0
Thanks Bell!! We will make you proud here in Steamboat. Finally some jumps (legal ones anyway). This town has come a very long way the last few years. Proud of our community for getting behind this.
  • 10 3

YES YES YES. Im soooooo Happy Kingdoms trails won the flow. The place is amazing and the crew have been so dedicated over the years and because of it, people like me keep coming back for more and more. Congrats to Kingdoms Trails and the wonderful people of Vermont.
  • 4 1
gotta grow out my hair for the summer... so i can get even flowier while I'm flowing.
  • 4 1

lots of quebecer vote and help for the kingdom trail !
  • 3 0
@jimbsport, yep your right. many Quebecers did vote for KTA because it's at our doorstep and we have enjoyed the trail network and hospitality for many years. Very glad for KTA.
  • 2 0
Quebecers are real chill. Much rather have you guys than the people from NYC like we do during ski season.
  • 10 3
 Fuck ya VT!!!
  • 3 1
I live close to steamboat could get the chance to ride it but I think somewhere that isn't a mountain town should have got the grant to help grow the sport but I do live a couple blocks from trestle so I don't need to go to the boat
  • 6 1
 Copper Harbor YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • 1 0
I agree. They did a great job with their presentation and desire over the others. That's why I voted for them. They seemed very passionate and organized. It's that type of organization that will put that 33k to use. Cheers to all the winners.
  • 3 1
Here I was getting excited about a MI riding destination...untill I google mapped it and it's nearly 1200kms from here...siiigh...
  • 1 2
Seems like sort of an odd spot to get the votes for a DH trail, do they have the elevation for a long DH track?

I was hoping for Oregon or the rock mountain in PA. I hope the people that didn't get the vote don't give up and still build the trails with harder effort.
  • 1 1
there's actually done gnarly riding at copper super stoked
  • 1 1
vermont should be closer to you
  • 1 0
they have like 750ft of elevation loss, the trail will be over 1 mile long... the riding up there is super awesome! its like an oasis for MTB
  • 3 0
Why Bell didnt gave 2nd and 3rd places, atleast money for maintaining some of the trails. just saying Smile
  • 2 3
Yeah, giving the winner $50, second $30 and third $20 woulda spread the money out and give Bell more publicity, and the money would be spent more efficiently. it doesn't take a lot of money to build a trail just a lot of ants to move the material.
  • 1 0
each winner only gets $33k it is $100 k split 3 ways....
  • 4 2
Michigan for the motherfucking win. I haven't made it up to Copper Harbor since I was a child but I am so happy they got the money, road trips are in order.
  • 1 0
Too bad the south always gets left out. I guess when its up to votes, most of the northern areas have greater populations. Great program anywho, there's always next time.
  • 2 0
Congratulations to all the winners! I wish you luck with all you projects! Build it and they will come!
  • 3 0

Way to go Copper Harbor, Aaron, Amanda, Lori and the rest of the Copper Harbor Trails Club!!! Can't wait to see it!!!
  • 2 1
thats awsome for the winners it would have been sick if the corral trail at northstar would have won
  • 5 1
Err, Corral Trail is not at Northstar. It's part of the public trail system at South Lake Tahoe, 44 miles/70km away.
And if you mean "sick" in the "sick good" way, I agree!
  • 2 0
Thank you for your support in the MTB community Bell.
  • 1 0
Jay Peak is the closest trail to me, but even still, I'm not driving 4 hours to bike for an afternoon.
  • 2 0
If Jay Peak is closest to where you live then why don't you go to Kingdom Trails? Kingdom is about an hour and a half away from Jay.
  • 1 0
Because Jay Peak is still 5+ hours from me.
  • 2 0
Awesome can't wait to get out and shred the trails at Burke
  • 3 0

Way to go Bell. Great support for the sport and very pretty new AM lids.
  • 2 1
Instead of funding trails on public land, they subsidize for profit business?
  • 1 0
anyone else offended by him referring to our Canadian 'Territories'? common 'merica, try a little
  • 1 0

Bell, you are awsome people! shame none of them are in europe though
  • 2 3
I think it's awesome that you guys did this and it's a great thing for the mountain bike community but this isn't going to make me buy a Bell helmet over a POC or TLD.
  • 2 1
My next brain bucket will be a Bell
  • 1 0
This added to my decision to buy my new bell helmet. Nice work Bell
  • 1 0
This money should have gone to save Aptos, but congrats to the winners!
  • 1 0
 Damn! Not Sandy Ridge? Boooo!
  • 1 0
thinks like that make me consider BELL as my next brain bucket
  • 1 0
I hate living in PA. Nothing good will ever happen here.
  • 1 1
Thats an expensive mile of trail. $0.05 per foot. So at 15mph, which is slow for dh, thats $1.10 per second of riding.
  • 4 4

  • 10 4

  • 8 4
Dude, we live on the west coast, we already got it good. Only fair the land locked states get something to play with.
  • 5 1
 I'm just jealous lol
  • 4 2
Spend a few months in Indiana where I live, you'll be begging to get back out to the West Coast to ride. You're griping about being raped is a joke
